You won't have auto lights then.

Early cc's (pre multiplex wiring) don't have the auto lights etc. Mine was registered in Oct 2002 and doesn't have these features.

The easiest way to tell whether it is a multiplexed car or not is by looking at the hazard light button - if it is split into 2 buttons, 1 for the hazards and one for the central locking then it is the newer spec. I'm guessing you just have the single button like me!

The end of the stalks on my car press in about 1/4 inch (and don't do anything), however the design of the stalk is completely different on the auto light/wiper cars.

P.S. I don't think it matters that it is a 1.6 as opposed to the 2.0 SE

To any Aussies out there the split hazard rule doesn't apply. Regardless of pre or post multiplexing Aussie delivered cars have the single hazard button. Easiest test is pick up the manual and follow the activation instructions for both wipers and lights. My recollection is there's no button on the stalk for auto lights if you don't have them.

A good indicator of whether you have auto lights etc. is to see if you have the sensor fitted, it is a small purple coloured rectangle on the base of you windscreen mouned rear vision mirror with this rectangle being visible from the outside of your car, without this you definately don't have it.

I have a 51 reg 1.6 206cc and I have the split lock and hazard light button. I don't have auto lights or wipers. So that doesn't always work. :!:

You're not missing much if you don't have auto wipers. By the time the rain is heavy enough for the sensor to see it, you'll have turned the wipers on yourself!!

Auto lights/wipers are little more than gimmicks really. What they should do is USEFUL extras like heated front screens, conmatic's as standard, etc

I would have to disagree with teddy206 gti's comment here. I always use my auto wipers, and they work long before you would think you need to put the wipers on yourself

They are pretty pointless tho - there are times when you manually put wipers on and its not quite raining hard enough for it not to smudge etc. Its not like they monitor anything you cant do yourself!

The button on the light stalk marked "auto" is for the Satellite Navigation system and nothing to do with the lights or washers.

My automatic headlights don't work anymore - I used to like that feature. Must get it into the garage to check it out - when I get time! :(
