A new mass e-mail worm attempts to download files from the Internet and potentially leave computers vulnerable to further attack. It arrives in e-mail and includes a variety of subject lines, including "Your details," "Thank you!," "Your application" and "Wicked screensaver." When the .pif or .scr attachment is opened, Sobig.F infects the computer and sends itself on to other victims using a random e-mail address from the address book. If the infected computer is on a shared network, the worm tries to copy itself to the other computers on that network.
Yeah I've had a lot of emails sent to me from firewalls saying I sent this virus to them - which i did not. It's not possible (or at least very difficult) to inadvertently send viruses from a hotmail address!!!
This virus just says it's from somone whose address it finds in your address book or messages.
Greetings, You have just received the "IRISH VIRUS". As we don't have any programming experience, this Virus works on the honour system. Please delete all the files on your hard drive manually and forward this Virus to everyone on your mailing list. Thank you for your cooperation
