Anybody got any experience of Admiral, I have spent today getting 20 or so insurance quotes and they are the cheapest at £540 followed by Axa at £850 and the next cheapest is all the way up at £1200 which is more than I paid last year.

My only concern is that I have used Elephant before and they are a member of the same group and they are truly dire...

Oh, and I didn't find this price on Admirals site but on http://www.confused.com

Yes. Melanie had her 2nd puma and then her CC insured with them. She used their 10 month policy to boost her no claims.

They seemed very efficient, they made one small typo on the certificate and they fixed that within a couple of days.

Was lucky that we didnt have to make a claim with them so I dont know how that side is but we were more than happy.

We only left them as when she had her full no claims they didnt offer the unlimited claims policy that we wanted.

I too found Admiral to be cheapest by far and have been isured by them for 2 years now. No probs here only a minor accident (not my fault) and it was handled by them very well, good correspondence to keep me up to date and any query and they were easy to get on the phone to answer it.

Have you tried eSure?

For a Mar 03 206cc 2.0 SE was £438, with protected 70% NCD and £100 voluntary, £100 compulsory excesses.

Admiral quote came out at £462.

I've been with Admiral before, they were cheap for the first year and then got all expensive in subsequent years, but I think that's a trait of insurance companies - moving each year seems to be the norm, and is at least a lot easier now with web searches :)

I don't know if this is peculiar to eSure though, they removed all cover for personal accident, medical expenses and personal belongings, stating the car was a convertbale and these sections did not apply (I did point out it had a tin roof but that's their policy). The audio kit is covered to £1000.

I did. They wouldn't insure me. They only insure old farts and women on the cc apparently.

I saw a file at a solicitor clients once - this woman got a million pound payout from AXA, cot she was on the back of her husband's bike when he crashed. Smashed up her legs, one arm, her back. Generally fcuk'd up her life. Imagine if SHE had been with e-sure and they had refused personal accident & medical benefits

Not that i'm trying to scare ya ;) , there's just no way i'd go for that! without medical/injury cover, you are not far off 3rd party fire & theft cover!

His cover would have been irrelevant. She would have been covered by his third party cover and so could claim for whatever she wanted. Whether he had personal accident & medical benefits is entirely irrelevant.

She was also on a motorbike, not in a car

The point of it all being, if YOU have no injury/medical benefit and YOU get yourself smashed up. I know money wont make it all better but it might help if you can never work again and need constant care!

Well, I'd fail the physical for Diamond

Admiral seemed to think that my car actually had a 1.4L engine which was why the quote was low so it looks like I'm sticking with AXA and they haven't done anything wrong (yet) so that's not really a problem.
