Hi
I am after someone who knows a tad bout computers!
Stephen T kindly helped me the other night sort this goddam virus out and I have just done another check on my pc and it has come up with this:
Network Vulnerability Scan
At Risk!
Scan Description:
Attempts to create a connection with, or test for access to your computer to see if unknown or unauthorized Internet communication is allowed.
Scan Results:
WARNING!! The scan was able to make a connection with your computer. This means that you could potentially be vulnerable to attack by malicious people who gain access to your computer and can potentially view, copy, delete, or modify data on your computer.
Internet connections to your computer are made through ports. To learn more about the status of ports on your computer, see: Network Vulnerability port status
Also it came up with this:
Antivirus Product Scan
At Risk! Show Details
Hide Details
Scan Description:
Searches your computer for a recent version of a commonly used antivirus program. The results show if an antivirus program was detected and whether or not it is a recent version.
Scan Results:
You are at moderate risk from computer viruses. While your computer has a commonly used antivirus program installed, it is not the most current version available. However, by having recent virus definitions you are in a good position to fight against viruses -- see the Antivirus Definition Scan below for details. Still, you might consider updating your antivirus software to the latest version because virus technology changes frequently.
To Fix This Problem:
Contact your antivirus software vendor for information about upgrading to the most current revision available
Or, install the latest version of a commonly used antivirus software package
Anyone know if this is major and what I can do!?
These came up safe -
Network Vulnerability Scan
NetBIOS Availability Scan
Active Trojan Horse Scan
Antivirus Definition Scan
:blush-thx: Julia
Blaster virus - can someone help me.....

Julia,
I think I am right someone will correct it if its wrong but.
the first part of the scan as checked for open ports which it as found a open one, alter the security settings of your firewall from medium to high.
Dont worry about the antivirus bit, it comes up with that to get you to buy the latest release, if you are using nortons antivirus 2002 or 2003 thats as upto date virus definitions then you are ok

Lyndon was right, so here I am.er not this time
there will be a IT bod around here some time soon to help out
Sorry its taken so long but I have been playing anti virus for the big boys
Nutty Slack is indeed correct about changing from medium to high.
The question I have is are you sing the firewall that comes with XP?
If so ditch it and go and buy something like Norton Firewall.
Microsoft firewall is probably best refered to as MicroSHITE
have fun, just remember, if you catch something nasty ell your friends and dont pass it ound any more
