Hi all,

as you might know I had a crash with the Pug 7 weeks ago.
It was fixed after 5 weeks and then I found out that the roof was not good anymore.

The insurance policy says that when the damage is more than 2/3d of the new car value I will get the new car value.

New car value is 23.000 euros.
Damage so far is 13.000 euros.

I went to the Pug dealer and he says the damage is between the 1.500 and 3.000 euros.

If the total damage is 15.333 euros I will claim a new car.

I have 2 questions

1. MUST I first bring the car back to the first repair company to let them fix the roof ? Why may I not bring the car to Peugeot then, this time ?
and
2. WIll the insurance company give me a new car even if the damage is fixed.

The damage expert who didn't see the broken roof the first time INSISTS that I take the car back to his preferred repair company which I took the car to for the first time. I am afraid he will make a deal with those blokes that the total damage will stay BELOW the 15,333 euros so I can not claim a new car.

Also the policy doesnt say anything about economoic write-off or technical write off, the only thing they say is that if the damage is more than 2/3d of the new car value I will get the money. Since already 13,000 has been spend it is NOT an aconomic write off anymore but then they should have said so in their policy...

Any help is really appreciated !

I would go to the repairer and lie basically

tell them you want a quote to fix the roof. Tell them you want their quote as you are getting several quotes as you want it done right.

When they quote you in WRITING then you have the proof you need to show the damage was more the 2/3 of the cars value.

Also get some qyuotes from other garages so you can prove that this repairer may be pulling a fast one with the insurance company if their quote comes in low

Did that make any sense ?
