I mean clearly the hoops on the back are just decorative, unlike those in the Audi TT. So is the windscreen strengthening enough to stop the screen flattening and killing the occupants if you manage to roll it over?

Even the Street Ka appears to have solid roll over hoops :(

It all sounds a bit scrape-matic to me? The 307cc did good in the NCAP tests though, even in cabrio mode, but flipping one over isn't in the tests :(

Don't the roll bars extend on the 307cc it it rolls, that would make it safer (unless the car didn't know it was rolling)

Yep, you're quite right, this article from Auto Express mentions them. I guess they're needed on four-seaters because a strengthened windscreen wouldn't form enough of an angle to protect your head in the back. But I wouldn't hold out much hope in the 206cc, but then I guess that goes for any car really.

From this picture there are no visible hoops at all:

The interior looks good but check out the sporty footrest :(

Are there any NCAP test results available for the 206cc?
Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.

Nope. Standard 206 1.4 got 4 stars, IIRC, so the cc shouldn't be too much worse and may even be better if you have the side airbags. Roof down's a different matter though.

It was a three year old 206 they tested too, so you'd hope there have been lots of improvements since then.

as julia says they pop up - when the car detects it's gonna roll. let's hope the 307CC stays alert and the hoops aren't faulty

Will you be able to swap 'em for chrome ones? If you're gonna wear clean undies in case you have an accident, why not tart the car up as well?

Appears 206cc has not been tested. Other convertables have such as MGF and SLK..........but NCAP test do not include a roll test

Side impact, front impact and a pole test ( cos 50% German drive into trees or Poles....apparently)

http://www.euroncap.com/tests.htm

they also do a pedestrian test...that may have something to with Germans driving into Poles too

Have a look at www.peugeot.co.uk/307cc/ for more details on the 307cc.
I notice the 307cc develops a max of 138bhp and has a 0-60 of 10s and top speed of 129 which comes out very well against the 206cc. The 180bhp should be very nice indeed!
