Hi Robbie,
No my plate was in a legal font with legal spacing, I had not had time to get a fancy one made yet!
As I said Shirebrook, is a border town (400yds outside the town it becomes notts), inside Derbyshire,
I was coming back from Mansfield, (Notts Side), and they followed my and stopped me inside the Town so in Derbyshire
The Town is a real pain as the Notts border envelops it on 3 sides and it really shoud be in Notts, but Derbyshire still holds it, there is no full time police station in the town with Derbyshire cars having to prowl in from some distance, so I think the Notts who drive through it to get from one part of their patch to another still treat it as theirs, there were some things in the local rag a few months back saying that a Notts car had tried to use a radar gun in the town and had got a flea in the ear for being out of area!.
I am sure they were the real thing, I heard some heated discussions on the Radio over the PNC check allong with the verification that the 03 plates were the ones registered to the car
I have been promised a reply in writing from the Derbyshire lot when they have spoken further to notts, I will let you know what they say
Regards
Victoria

I would personally have said - sorry officer but I think you have made a mistake. I am quite within my rights to drive this car as it complies withthe law of the land. If you disagree then I request that you summon your senior officer there and we can discuss it. If not I am getting into my car and will drive away now.
Let them try and argue that one. They will have made an unlawfull arrest and you can then quite within your rights sue them for mental anguish.
Go get em Vicky

Ideally I think Rob has a good point and I also think you did the right thing by protesting but not hindering the officers in the course of their duty, even if they were in the wrong.
Its wouldn't be unheard of for 2 policeman to invent and cooberate fictitious details of events and shall we say even locations in notebooks just to cover for their errors and possibly to even up a score. Also while some magistrates are justifiably more scepticle of the police these day, others still believe everything that comes out of a police officers mouth. In my view its far better to safeguard your liberty and launch an official complaint afterwards.
Robbie.
