I booked my car in for Sat 26 July to have the new no-squeak brake pads (part no 4252.76), and because che car is nearly 1 year old they won't change them under warranty. They quoted me £94 for a set of 2 front brake pads including fitting.
Now my question is: for that amount, can't I just buy a better quality brake pads (say EBC green, found them for about £45, or some similar brand) and make them fit them instead :
Any one fitted 3rd party brake pads that don't squeak :
What are the best brands? what size will I look for that will fit the CC :
Come on you brake experts out there.....

When I had my CC I was going to go down the same route. My argument was that it doesn't matter how old the car was or how many miles it had done - the pads were still faulty (ok not faulty, just squeaky - but as they were doing a recall for younger cars I saw no reason why that shouldn't apply to older cars. It's not the mileage that was causing the problem). The 6000 mile thing was just to stop Pug losing too much money over it. However, I also sold my CC before getting involved with Pug!
I had my car since January 2002 and last week had the pads you are talking about done FOC under Guarantee with no questions asked but mind you I moan for a year before anything was done.
the part no: is from motorworld but don't use them as they are extortinate, £55 or something. try euro car parts or somewhere or have a quick look at the ads in the mags like revs, redline, max power or similar.
the part number is the official one as the one they list for the 2.0 is the same as whats on the box of mine.

the part number for the 1.6 you quoted was wrong
i have a 206cc 1.6 and it has the exact same brake setup as the 206gti and 206cc 2.0
266mm vented discs at the front and 248 discs at the rear
i have the 21234 green stuff pads fitted and they are amazing
much stronger brakes
and no brake dust and no squealing either
front and rear cost about 60 £
got them from www.larkspeed.com
or you could fit the 306gti discs and calipers and pads if you wanted a brake upgrade
you can fit them to the standard hub on our cars
those discs are 283mm wide
total cost of that upgrade would be around 120 for the discs and calipers and around 40 for the brake pads
