Hi
I received this at work today from our IT helpdesk.
Some of our users have received the following email message that looks like it is from a legitimate on-line retailer. However, after further research the message is a trap to get on-line buyers to disclose their credit card information. For more information, go to http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/scams/bestbuy.asp

D'OH! Bad move...I got one of those emails, I replied with "F*** off con man!"Damn, these conmen.

Once you've replied then they know your e-mail address is valid and will send you even more spam. I remember reading that about 80% of the worlds spam comes from about 5 main sources. These sources trawl the internet to find vulnerable e-mail servers that they can use to distribute their spam.
Quick rules..
1. NEVER reply to spam, or click on any links on e-mails, even if you get a "click here to get yourself off the list" link.
2. NEVER open any HTML spam e-mails - links to images often contain your e-mail address (or an encoded version of it) so again they'll know your e-mail address exists & send you more spam.
3. NEVER EVER open any attachments from e-mails unless you're expecting it and are 100% sure that the sender's machine is totally virus free (a machine can easily be infected with the user knowing). Always virus scan any attachments you want to look at.
4. NEVER use a computer unless it's got a virus checker installed! There is no excuse for this - you can get hold of very good anti-virus software for free. AVG (http://www.grisoft.com) is free and even scans all e-mails in Outlook & Outlook Express.

I can also recommend AV6, very good cover and everything including updates are free, i've also got a pre-download E-mail checker that allows you to check mail on your mail server and bounce it back if its junk (hence to sender will think the address doesnt exist), i will find the exact URL and post it up, also check out www.surferbeware.com for loads of useful tools, i recommend Spybot from that site, hope that helps someone somewhereD'OH!
