Just in case anyones wondering why there are quite a few cc's in the Bristol/M5 area - Anyone in the Armed Forces buying tax-free cars while serving in mainland Europe through "NatoCars" picks them up from Bridgewater in Somerset.

*THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION AND IN NO WAY REPRESENTS THE VIEWS OF THIS FORUM*
we were gonna get one from natocars but were told by PEOPLE WHO KNOW that cars they had bought from natocars were substandard quality, so we panicked and ran away after reading on this forum about problems people have had with ones from franchised dealers.
Don't know how right it was but many people i know shared the same opinion. (SO DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER NATOCARS)

oh god i've heard this too...since i bought thru Natocars. The rumour has it someone took the passenger side door panel off to change the front speakers and there was a sticker attached saying something along the lines of "sub-standard vehicle, suitable only for tax-free or BFG (British Forces Germany) sale". Not sure how true it is and as yet haven't discovered anyone else from BFG who uses this site (see my post in spotted forum)
Conspiracy theorists like myself would think there was something in this as they (Peugeot), have to shift their "duds" somewhere so why not sell them to those gullible servicemen who think they're getting a great deal by buying tax-free...?
I'd be interested to hear any opinions on this....

That sounds exactly like what I've been told only not just on peugeot's i've heard of it on volvo's vauxhall's and ford though, those exact sort of markings hidden about the cars in all sorts of unlikely to be seen places!? the things we were told were enough to put us off anyway, but for your sake i hope that it's an urban myth though it seems to big to be that. Short of pulling it to pieces looking for clues i just don't know what to suggest. the faults may not even be that big but the ones i've heard of were rippled panels and dodgy ecu's though these have been found on new "safe" peugeot's so christ knows what peugeot's seconds are like? :???:
do hope yours is ok though. If i can get any firm evidence i will let you know Ok?
cheers

Cheers Mellers....
although nothing (yet!!!!) is apparently wrong i must admit it is with a sense of trepidation that i approach my car JUST IN CASE TODAYS THE DAY.....
Like you say though, short of tearing all the panels off i guess i'll never know.
One thing is for certain though, IF i find evidence of this sort of thing happening i will go ape.

Well if Lyndon puts the new section on I suggested to him REJECTION SECTION then we can post VIN numbers etc and this should prevent any dodgy dealings going on.

Sounds like a good idea Rob. Should mean fewer are suckered in by dodgey return cars on the forecourt.

Any possible legal problems with this? (anyone?)

THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION AND IN NO WAY REFLECTS THE OPINIONS OF THIS SITE OR ANYONE ELSE INCLUDING ANY OTHER FORM OF SENSIANT BEING (New improved disclaimer  )
Yeah good idea about the vin numbers only trouble is it won't stop these companies from selling sub-standard brand new cars to NATOCARS or others IF that is what's happening?! As to how to prevent this...i don't know...i just don't know.....i'm afraid to say that even i really just don't know..... (sorry for the pythoning at the end ther it just comes over me from time to time ;) )

I was chatting to a bloke the other day who mentioned he got scared off buying a pug (tax-free) after his mate said it was a WELL KNOWN FACT that Peugeot were notorious for shifting ropey motors to the unsuspecting HM Forces. I've asked him to find out any SOLID facts from his mate or i suppose it'll just be another one of those unconfirmed rumours. I have been sorely tempted to rip my panels off and check for these so-called "dud stickers" but haven't yet..only because at the mo there doesn't appear to be anything wrong.
Oh yeah...its my birthday today! And i'm going to treat myself to a McFlurry with Dime Bar bits.
Just thought i'd share that!!
