Does any one know the reason for this?

I find it quite annoying that the boot does not automatically lock when the plip key is activated.

My previous car was a pug 306 hatch, and the boot locked along with the rest of the central locking.

Now on the CC I have to remember to lock the boot with the key or it is not secure and can be opened by anyone. Yes the alarm would go off, but thats not the point as the anyone breaking in wouldnt be put off by the alarm.

the boot SHOULD be locked when you central lock/deadlock the car, you ONLY need the key to unlock the boot, it might be a faulty lock so it's a trip to the zoo i'm afraid :(

Yup agreed - the boot does come unlocked with central locking, but it should lock when you lock the rest of the car.

Apparently this is standard for most convertibles - if you leave your car with the top down and someone releases the central locking, at least they can't get into your boot.

You would have though that would be all sorted by the deadlocks though - especially on the multiplexed cars!

ie deadlocks off - boot can be unlocked if the lock stem is pulled up
deadlocks on - boot wont unlock even if the stem is pulled up

Couldnt think of a better word than 'lock stem' - sorry!

Thanks for the advice guys. :D

I have checked this out, and my lock does work as you've all described. I thought you had to lock it as well, didnt realise that the central locking did that for you. You've all saved me time, now I know I dont have to manually lock the book. :D

Phew, at least I dont have to visit the zoo, this time!

I haven’t got my cc yet (!!!), but I know from some of the cars I have had in the past that you can have two settings on the boot lock. One that opens with the central locking and one that doesn’t. Often you can change the setting depending on how you turn the key in the lock when you remove the key.

Check the manual.

Yes this was the same on my 205 CTI. I went back several times to the garage complaining. The third time they vandalized my owners manual by underlining the section where it said the boot only locks with the central locking. Ooops. Sorry dealership.

The reason for it is so that thieves can’t get in to the boot by lifting the interior lock button. Mind you with multiplexing technology I am surprised Peugeot haven’t got round this as it shouldn’t be to hard to deactivate the boot unlocking mechanism with the roof down.

Or up ;)

You don't want someone to be able to open the boot by smashing a window and lifting the pin...

Personally I would prefer the convenience of a boot that unlocks with the roof up.

quote-"You don't want someone to be able to open the boot by smashing a window and lifting the pin..."

aren't most hatchbacks like this? And the CC is also alarmed.

Alarms don't help when it takes 5 seconds to smash the window, unlock the boot and run off with everything inside it.

There's no reason for the boot not to unlock with the remote though...

Oh yeah, and the hatchback statement's irrelevant. Hatchbacks allow you into the 'boot' as soon as you're in the car whether you unlock the tailgate or not. Cars with a boot do not - it's an extra security feature. No point having the extra security of a boot if you can just open it without a key...
