I've been talking to a guy i know who's a car mechanic and he said that squeaky brakes can be made worse by "brake glaze" that builds up when you break softly on new brakes, as my CC is still my pride and joy i haven't broken anything but extremely softly, but he said to try getting up a good speed (on a very quiet straight road) then braking real hard, do this a couple of times and the friction should clear the glaze, i've done this and it has reduced my bad squeak from at leat 5 times a week to a much quieter one that now only seems to happen ever now and then,

I know it don't sort the problem but i thought i'd share that with you all :D

Yep, that sometimes can help a bit indeed!
Didn't for me though!

As i mentioned before, i had new brakepads fitted from Peugeot and now it's squeaky free for months already! :D

Partnumber for the pads is: 42 52 59 no charges under warranty :D
Maybe worth a try?

Oh so it's not just my car that does that. My brake squeal reduced when I did that at the end of the A2/M2 link yesterday. 65ish down to 0 very quickly when atwo cars collided on the roundabout 300 yards infront of me. All new Pugs and Citroens do the hazard light thingy apparently

dont think i've braked THAT hard, but my hazards havent come on when the ABS cut in on ice so far as i know. I'm sure my ABS used to beep from somewhere in the passenger footwell, but it doesnt now (i only know this coz i have to drive on grass/mud fairly often)

Well, my breaks also squeezed before my BIG crash, so hopefully when my car is fixed that noise will be away, becoz I braked very hard :D
