Work argument -- you know what its like!

I think KITT was never convertible but someone here swears he (she?) was for a while!

Anyone remember the roof ever coming off?

Google rocks:

And I've actually been to see Kit at the Keswick car museum, although it was a long time ago. Apparently the one in Keswick is a convertible, but I can't remember!

Also worth a browse: http://www.codeoneauto.com/frames/kittconvert.html

NO

it was a t-bar or what ever you call them. Those things where you take 2 small roof panels out. Hardly a true convertible.

OK sad mode on.

KITT (original) was destroyed in the series by means of the baddies covering him with chemicals which removed the indestuctrible powers from the metal and then he was squashed between 2 x big industrial truck type thingies ( :) ).

Then some street racer types rebuilt and improved him and the new KITT had hyperpursuit mode (loads of silly spoilers) and indeed a convertible mode.

Also some time after the series ended they made a TV movie (possibly Knightrider 2000) in which KITT's electronics were fitted into Michael's dodgy 60/70 convertible (although I can't remember why!) possibly a Ford Mustang but possibly not as it was a long time ago and I'm getting old and forgetful.

Cheers

I'd still like a car to drive me about itself.

Think I could get an extra 1/2 hour sleep in the mornings!

Was the girl in knight Rider called Amy? And was she a hunny or is it my selective memory?

Who was Amy Honey :)

I only remember Bonnie (who as luck would have it was indeed rather Bonnie) she used to fix KITT.

The episode in question was shown as a two parter (Friday and Monday) on Bravo. I caught it whilst channel hopping on Friday (waiting in for the Gas man).

It ended with the pressing of the "C" button which indeed led to KITT becoming convertible. Kind of a rudimentary folding hard top mechanism.

Car looked like it would be a really dynamically flawed bad drive though as they'd clearly just lopped the roof off!!
