After I did an emergency roof shut, the string and toggle are all dangly :(

How do I tighten it?

And isn't the manual CR@P with a capital C?

It's only thanks to reading that section of the manual in reverse order that we...

1. put the white u clips back into the original position - again, I RTFMed but the manual is manure
2. turned that lock back 1/4 turn with the allen key - ditto.

Does anyone know how the allen key is supposed to go to lock the boot up in the roof-raising position?

This is seriously not a one-woman job so I'd hate to get stuck again on my own!

And it's all because when Pug tried (twice) to repair the dent to my door, they've bent a rubber that stops the rear quarter light window from closing. AAAAAAGH, yes - that's all it was!

Thanks folks, a peeved Pauline

PS ALex/Lyndon, can we make an announcement in this forum to say "things you need to know that the manual doesn't tell you"!!! :D

One of the video files available on http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/ (Images>Videos>Tech Stuff) shows you how to do the roof-retraction thing, it's pug-vid-04.avi and might help with your dangly bits :)

So I watched the video and it's really helpful for making it look so easy but doesn't tell me how to tighten my white toggle?

Please, does anyone know? I think that's why my roof is clunky when it goes down (no problems getting it up tho ;) )

Hi Pauline,

This may sound stupid but,

Last week while cleaning my cc I foynd my toggle handging down , i simply pushed it back into the recess from where it came. Ive had no problems with the roof since and ive had it down for 2 days .

Also, remembering back to my first and last (hopefully) emergency roof up I remember just simply pushing it back into place , threading the cord through the hole first.

Give it a go , i'm not pulling your tassle
