Engine Cutting Out

In rush hour, on a particularly busy road in Hemel Hempstead, the engine cut out and would not restart. Basically the problem is associated with heat generated under the bonnet when sat in traffic. After the engine has reached normal operating temperature it cuts out and refuses to restart until it's cooled for about 15 minutes, however the temp gauge looks as normal. After getting it going, the AA followed me to the nearest Pug Garage (a disgraceful business) where the car has already been in for this very problem I don't hold much hope. Last time they had it in for roof problems also, and they forgot(?) to refit the plastic and rubber trim around the windows which kept me busy for a while after picking it up. Upon reaching the garage this morning we had a 3 way, 10 minute argument over who should give me a loan car. The garage are hopefully contacting me later with one. I will keep you updated.

I am writing regarding letter on the 206cc website. I have a Y reg 306 1.8 petrol and have exactly the same problem the garage have looked at it four times now and this has been over a period of six months.
The engine cuts out intermittently leaving me unable to brake or steer and they cannot find the fault and have never heard of this (Renwicks Exeter) Peugeot Uk have never heard of this happening neither.
Please let me know how you got on as I have been advised to take legal action.
PS they have replaced
1. Stepper motor
2. Map Sensor
3. Speed Sensor
Regards
Dan

surely you don't need to post the exact same message to 3 topics within the same forum section

I queued in traffic for about 2 hours into London 2 wks ago when the engine stopped! It wouldn't re-start just made a loud banging sound each time - with the dash starting "engine immobiliser failure". Was towed back to garage who had to fit a EDU (I think that's what it's called!) - which took nearly two weeks since there wasn't any in the country!! I got the car back on Thurs but it's just doesn't feel right. Have had numerous other problems with dials, lights and now seat runners........ off to post my replies in relevant topics!

I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. I realise that my 206 is not a CC or petrol, but I've only done 380 miles, the engine has cut out about 8 times, it's been in the dealer 4 times (4th time at the moment) in 3 weeks.
Most often the engine just stops, I wait a minute or two and can restart. On 2 occasions I have been unable to restart at all and needed the RAC to tow me.
I'm getting fed up as the car is just unreliable - I don't trust it. I'd like a replacement, but I'm not sure what to do, as I imported the car myself from a dealer in Holland, and Peugeot UK aren't as helpful as they were sounding until they realised the car is an import...
Any advice would be hugely helpful!

If you imported from Holland, the dealer has to look at it. If they don't, call Peugeot UK.
There may not be many people on this forum who can help you if you have a diesel. A better bet would be to try the PGAC forums (see banner above).
