Just had to share my impulsive joy...

Getting a Sony MEX-1HD installed on Wednesday (pic), along with better front speakers, small 320w amp, box & sub (unobtrusive and definitely smaller than the pully-outy bit!) for the boot...

Can't wait. Will take piccies when it's done!

"Just had to share my impulsive joy!"

Misery guts!

Actually, if there has to be a point - I'll ask a question, since I noticed member 'Erm' has had one of these installed already...

When you rip MP3 CDs to the HDD on it, can they be organised in folders on the CD or does the CD have to contain all the MP3s on the root? Don't want to spend the next few days getting my whole CD collection together ready to put in this thing on Wednesday only to find I have to muck about...

oops didnt read it

you can move anything you rip into its own folder on the HDD...... very easy to move tracks or CDs around into different folders.

altho you really gotta sit down with the handbook and mess about with it for a few hrs  sooooooooooo many options on the thing!!!

When you two installed these head units, did you get the adapter to enable you to keep the head up display? or just leave it as it was? If so, how does it look?

Well I haven't had it done yet, but I've yet to find something that will 'adapt' to the dash readout. Anyone know differently?

The steering stalk is adaptable so that's all I really cared about ;)

Oh no... The guy at the install place said it would be fine. What a pain. The IR remote - is that the one that looks the size of a small turnip? I saw it included with a different player I nearly got instead. How much are they? Where can I get them (quickly)?! :)

I guess it's ok really. I've found myself using the radio controls on the Clarion recently anyway - the stick gets forgotten about easily enough.

Can't believe Sony would be so tight fisted about a remote when the thing costs an arm and a leg. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of price did you get yours for? The place I am getting the stuff installed first wanted £1200 for it. I was like - urrr, I'll go home and buy that bit online I think!
