Check your nuts folks!!!
I used the mobile service from one of the big tyre fit companies. Really convenient, came to the house etc and the guy had the right tyres with him. The following evening I was on the motorway doing 70 and the back end didn't seem right (this was on my mx-5, rwd!). Pulled over straight away and on one of the wheels the only nut that was tight was the locking one, the others weren't even hand tight never mind torqued up.......v scary. Couldn't prove it was the fitter as someone else could have loosened them overnight, but the tyre firm sent someone else to check things out and said they may well take action against the guy.

Lip over the rim? So your alloys look smaller than they are? Does this 'Ron' idiot think i cant park my cc without kerbing it?http://www.goodyear.co.uk/company/news/pr/eaglef1.html
So is it true about the 'rim flange protection'? I guess we'll have to wait and see about the tread life...Another great feature of the new F1 is the rim flange protector. A rubber lips protrudes over the edge of the wheel rim to protect it from curbstone damage.
"I'm sure this feature will be much applauded by motorists with expensive alloys wheels on their vehicles," added Ron.
."
Then again, maybe they are special tyres for when the missus drives?!?

I managed to get a fair price from a small local fitter. £80 per tyre all in (including hidden balance weights) so £320 for 4. I think that's still on the pricey side, can't wait 'til I need 4 235/45//r17's for the new thing.
I could have saved a bit more by using one of Julias contacts (thanks for the info Julia) but time/petrol it would have been a small saving.
One thing a colleague mentioned - snap those alloys up from the 'For Sale' section, alot of people seem to fit aftermarket alloys and the factory-fits just take up space, considering you'll get an alloy and a tyre and usually for the cost of just a new tyre ?¿ Any spares / damaged can be flogged on here or e-bay.
