My oil level meter has bugged me since day 1 as it's never read the correct level; my last 206 always seemed to be fine.
I've just been told by my dealer that it actually 'remembers' the level from the last journey when you turn on the ignition. Personally I don't believe this as I thought it was an analogue meter - not digital - and therefore incapable of storing the last reading.
Anyone have any views?

If that's true, it's an awfully bad piece of design. Why should you want it to remember the oil level when the engine's been running? You want it to show the oil level when the engine's been off so you get a true value.
I think your dealer's either pulling your leg, or incompetent. Shall we vote on it?

Re:
hi been reading this thread, when the light came on at the oil i was really frantic about it and searched online, little did i know that the sensor is cr*p and that when i checked using the low tech method everything's fine. no leaks here and there.gringo_steve wrote:The flashing bars mean that you are out of OIL...the oil level sensor is a bit crap on the pug. If you park on a slight incline it reads too low.
My sensor was right though - the oil was low in my car.
Haven't had a smoking exhaust.......................yet!
Another problem I have is a vibration noise from my engine - sounds like plastic vibrating or metal rattling - any ideas people???

Yep that's the biggest thread ressurection I've ever seen heheGrandadMonkey wrote:8 years to respond to a post - must be some sort of record...
But because this thread is out of date, so is some of the info. Someone posted in this thread that Pug hoped to release a free update for the oil sensor in January 2003, so it's fairly safe to say that the sensor problem has been rectified, especially in 2003- onwards cars
