Hi all

Merry Xmas

Just wondered, people who have had there CC's awhile, how long have you gone before needing a new set of brake pads.

I am coming up on 7k and my brakes have gone very soft. It feels like they are on there way out TBH. To get the car to stop Im having to stamp really hard on the brakes, compared to what they where like when I got the car

I know it all depnds on how your drive, to how long pads/discs last, but I do drive my CC hard, but then again I have driven all my cars in the past the same and the brakes have still lasted longer than 7k.

What are peoples thoughts and experience?

Regards

You didn't answer the question :P

IIRC, you must have the car serviced at 6K for the warranty to remain valid.

Hi

I have just had the 6k service done and they said everything is ok, but I did not mention the brakes to them.

I have been trying a few things out, and have found the brakes go off the boil very quickly when driving the card hard and braking hard.

I guess it must be down to the quality of the discs and pads.

Will have to change the way I drive :(

I had my pads changed just short of 30,000 miles I would suggest having them checked before you get anywhere near that mileage.

speaking of breaks ... when i first set off sometimes .. i get a clunk .. well i didnt know what this was ... but someone else moved my car out the way to get another out ... and heard the clunk and say its the breaks sticking when the handbreak has been on.

Does anyone else suffer thisproblem ?

yep 206 brakes and pads are known for fading rabidly ... you can whack on a set of gti 6 disca nad pads with no problesm (the easy cheap upgrade route)
