Yes, but it's all about price vs. availability.
For example, I paid around £13.5k on a 12-week delivery from France. I could have paid around £1k less and waited six months for one from The Netherlands. I chose to pay the extra £1k to get it sooner. If I'd chosen to pay an extra £4k, I daresay I could have had one within a week from a local dealer.
I have imported cars before, so I know about warranties and residual values. Some people don't, and the concept of importing frightens them. That's up to them. When I imported my Scoob, it came with a Dutch service book and you can't get the UK dealers to give you a UK one. The VIN is also different (Dutch ones have a 'Y' where UK ones have an 'X') so it's possible to tell. I was surprised when I collected the Pug to find that it came with an English manual and service book. So you're right -- it's impossible to tell the difference with a CC, but I had to pay £13.5k to find that out!

So far as 'can't tell the difference', not even the V5 shows that it's an import these days!

ditto - i was offered a full cash refund when i rejected my 1st CC. i could have waited on an import or paid slightly more and got one from motorpoint or trade sales. i took another uk model at uk prices.
my choice entirely and a happy one.
and as far my post goes that you initially childishly slated - aren't you used to seeing happy faces and knowing what they mean ? thought not.

JonathanHow much and how reliable are 2.0 imports? Are they avaliable straight away? Am I likely to get as many problems with it?
I think that you started something here and it's clear that despite some pretty positive words written about imports, some would wrongly lead you to believe that you would be ill-advised to do it.
But, hey, if you're not yet sorted, send me an e-mail off-line and I'll let you have all you need to buy directly from a European Official Pug Dealer (who speaks perfect English), and how to effect a personal import with C&E and DVLA. You get not only the cheaper Euro prices, but cut out the middle-man's margin to boot!

Wow!
I've been away for a couple of days so haven't checked the post!
Didn't mean to cause such a stir... Sorry
I read a bit further up this post that you can't tell the difference between a UK car and an import, Is his true? I always thought you could, and that's why the residual values went down!
My dealer told me (that should explain it really....) that when you come to sell an import, they can track it as being imported, and you can loose about 30% of the value.. Is this right? If not I might get an import - My UK car has had loads of problems, so it can't be any worse!!
