it is sort of true........

each electrical part on a multiplex car has a unique code, a bit like a computer has an adress on the internet.

The dealer will either hav the means to code the part or the part will broadcast to the multiplex computer and that will assign it a unique adress. Either way it wont stop professional car thieves buying similar equipment.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad news, that happened to my last car. Foretunately we were also out. It's also a little to close for comfort.

Are you Mrs Tickle? Cos if you're not, that's clever, considering the letterbox is in the front door and cat flap in the back

Oh dear! Sorry to hear your woes.

I always take all car keys when I go out and I take them to the bedroom at night so Derek can't get em.

Hi All,
Quick update for you - A new replacement was ordered by Tesco last week, howvere this morning she was called by the Police as they have just recovered the car, seemingly undamaged, 250 miles away in Kent, and arrested the culprit.

How is this going to work out do you think? I assume that the car has already been declared a total loss by Tesco, so is their car, not my Mum's?

She is concerned they will try to give her her car back and she doesn't really want it (1 month of being drive like it was stolen!).

Anyone know where she stands?

What would this car be worth now that it has been stolen and recovered (Assuming Tesco replace it I was thinking of buying this off them for my Girlfriend of the price is right)

If they've already agreed to replace the car then the old one now belongs to them and they can do what they like with it. Your mum should be getting the new one.

if they have ordered you a new one then I would assume that they have declared it a total loss.

This will mean that if you have the car then you wont get a good price when you later sell it.

I would tell you mum to INSIST on a new car.

You could then negotiate with Tesco over the price. Get a valuation from someone like the AA or HPI. They will give valuations on cars make them aware this is a stolen recovered (if they dont know already).

Happy Shopping.

sorry to hear aboyt your loss
im so worried about having the car stolen after my garage was broken into last week , luckly they didnt touch the car .
im now having a new type of tracker fitted which texts my mobile or e mails me exactly where it is weather its moved out of its zone or how its being driven by the local dealer .
any one interested goto www.trakm8.com its my freinds company does a lot more than normal trackers and theres no extra fees , or subscriptions you just top the sim card up every so often. it is also warns of cameras and when conected to a lap top or pda is an excelent sat navigation aid
anyone interested take a peek it might stop the b******* taking our pride and joy.
