My mate has a Pug, bought second-hand over a year ago, with 16,000 miles on the clock. He also bought a two year extended warranty.

It now has 26,500 miles on the clock. The head gasket went last week and so he took it in to get sorted out and the Pug warranty company are saying that because the car has done over 10,000 miles since it was last serviced (serviced when purchased), the warranty is null and void.

Pug are saying that the warranty only applies if you service it every 10,000 miles !! :x Can anyone shed any light on this? Are they telling the truth or is it a load of cobblers?

We can't find anything on the paperwork relating to this clause and anyway nothing was mentioned when the car was purchased (I was there when he purchased it as I recommended the car to him! )

Help please !! Othwise it will cost a fortune!!

I think the warranty does say that you must service the car at an official peugeot dealer at the allocated times. Otherwise they can invalidate the warranty.

Service intervals depend on the type and age of the car. Other ones needed 10K services whilst the newer ones only need 20K services. But they have can void the warranty if you have not adhered to the recommeded service manual.

Ooops just occurred to me that you said you bought an extended warranty in that case, i think it is 10K pa.

I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong!

Try the goodwill gesture. Is it normal for a gasket to go after 25K ?

The garage can say the gasket went because of lack of service...this is I think what they're trying to say. If it's been regularly maintained by a peugeot service dealer then of course they'll fix it but if it's been 'neglected' for 15k then aren't they in there right to refuse to fix it under warranty. I don't know what the exact story and situation is so can only comment on what has been written here.

Hmmmmm, I've had 2 of these warranties on 2 cars and they both said you have to keep up with manufacturers warranty or, if you don't have a service book, every 6 months... if you don't, they can void it :(

And wasn't Pug service schedule every 10k miles or 1 year, whichever happened sooner?

Sorry, not good news eh?
