Wednesday 20-02-2002 5:23pm - I picked up my CC. With a date like that it must be fate!
Drove around to the parents and in-laws and did the WOW thing! The weather was even kind to us so we got to drive around with the roof down until about 8 o'clock at night.
A couple of interesting tidbits for other CC drivers and soon to be drivers:
- Peugeot are also distributing free baby capsules with the CC. Apparently there is only one type that is legally suited to the CC. It is called an Isofix Kiddy. Considering my wife and I aren't planning on kids we didn't bother taking it straight away (it was there waiting for us though!)
Is this an Oz only deal?
- The build date as Moush pointed out is in the boot and my car is 11/01. So the is it or isn't it discussion is over. Not to mention it has all the right gismos!
- Oh yeh, and I got a 2002 Build Manual with the car. It has instructions for an optional extra Satellite Nav System. Anyone investigated this?
- Finally, the icing on the cake was the couple of free Peugeot caps we got. Now we can officially be a couple of Peugeot Posers!
I'll sort out a couple of happy snaps over the weekend.
CC'ya
Kirk.

Kirk, let me be the first to welcome you to our 'wonderful world'.
The free baby thingies are an OZ only deal. Here in the Uk we dont even get the quality of car we pay for ( (go back and get the freebie - then sell it as an extra when you sel the car )
Enjoy it and I look forward to seeing your snaps (especially those of you 2 in your caps )

Kirk, further to my previous note I've spoken with my dealer and he's told me my car arrived yesterday. All being well they'll have enough time to do all the pre-delivery so that I can collect it on Saturday - can't wait.
I asked about the capsule and the story is that it was needed for the car to be able to meet Australian design laws and be registered. Make sure you pick yours up, as I've been told that when you come to sell it, it must be present to be roadworthy.
Cheers

Re Sat Nav, I did look into it as part of a new head unit (VDO). I understand with the CC it displays in the dash display. I have decided against it as frankly I don't do enough driving that requires a street directory/map, let alone a Sat Nav unit. The drawback here in Australia is they're only really any good in the city areas, with little use in the country.

Hi Frosty - great news about your car. It should be well worth the wait. Hope everything goes well and you get your Saturday pickup.
It's ironic that today it's completely overcast and there's quite a chill in the air - so I probably won't do any top-down driving. Mind the weekend is meant to be mid to high 30's again so I may need the roof up then too
BTW, I've managed to avoid crunching the gears yet mind you the gears especially finding 2nd is not as smooth as I expected. But then again I haven't got much to compare it against. Anyone experience any issues with their gearbox - especially with 2nd not being that easy to get to?

Kirk, interested to hear your comments on things like the trip computer, stereo, etc and qulaity of build and trim etc?
Interested in any impression you have.
I'll see mine tomorrow morning as I'm going to the dealer to drop my registration plates to for them to be fitted. Can't wait to see it.
Can't comment on the gearbox but will let you know when I get mine
Cheers

Kirk - what do you mean by a chill in the air. we have had our roofs down in sub zero temperatures
Frosty - as for the gearbox, it gets better with use. I hated my gearbox when I first had it, but by the time I got rid of it last week it was great. Drive it more and it will get better quicker - like you need an excuse

Just spoke to my dealer and confirmed my car will be ready for collection Saturday - can't believe that after all this time it's just "two sleeps" away!
Confirmed that it's 12/01 build - so like Kirk all the questions regarding the spec we would get are answered.
Not having seen a 2.0 with leather I am thrilled to learn that the trim on the doors is leather. Will take a peek tomorrow when I drop my registration plates in. Can't wait!!!!!
The great news is that we've got great weather this weekend - 23C and 26C Sat/Sun and fine! Looks like we might be going for a Sunday drive!
Cheers

Frosty in response to your queries about first impressions well here goes...
Trip Computer - yet to play with it fully but it looks like it gives you stats on everything you'd want to know about.
Auto Lights - I really like this feature. I especially like the fact that when you drive in to your carport at home switch the car off the lights stay on for 20 secs or so and you can find your way around easier. Well it impresses me anyway!
Trim - although I couldn't get leather I am more than happy with the cloth trim. It suits the car well and the 2-tone with pebblegrey? looks quite effective.
Interior - after driving around a bit I am quite surprised with how spacious the cabin is. It is obviously no 4-Wheel Drive but for the size of the car if you slide the seats back a bit I feel more than comfortable. They have made great use of compartments etc - I especially like the glovebox size and the little inbuilt glasses and drink holders in there. I can see my CD stacker (from my other car) going in there!
Stereo - at first listen it sounds fine. With the roof on the acoustics are reasonable and I don't have any complaints so far. The head unit lacks any real functions but I can live with that in the short term. I love my music so I may look at upgrading or swapping my Pioneer over at some stage.
Build Quality - no real complaints here SO FAR. It hasn't rained yet so I have that test to look forward to but I am glad to hear Rob said the gearbox loosens up/gets better over time. That is my only real query at the moment - but hey I'm still learning to drive a manual (so who am I to quibble). The back window appeared to rattle a few times last night but nothing significant. It's a fold-away metal roof so I am willing to be pretty understanding with slight movements here and there.
Overall impression - I'm loving it.
As for the staring of onlookers we haven't experienced that too much. I think the general attitude of Aussies to people driving around with good cars is to avoid appearing impressed - I know because I've been there!
As I keep saying to my friends - everyone has always called my wife and I Yuppies now we get to prove them right!

Thanks for that Kirk - sounds wonderful
I dropped my plates off at the dealer this morning and there it was! Not detailed yet, but looks the business - goodness knows how good it will look when it's all tarted up! Even better news, I get it tonight, so will be knocking off work a little early.
I'll have some fun with it this weekend and post my impressions along with a few pics.
Can't believe today is here!
Cheers

you mentioned a window rattle at the rear.
The video that Lyndon has uploaded mentions that the car is rigid enoughthe the car doesnt have to be flat to raise the roof. This is true, but the roof always seats itself better when raised if the car is stood on a flat area. Just a thought.
