Guys/Girls has any of you test drove a GTI as well as a CC. I would be interested to know what your thoughts are on both cars. I am looking to import one of them next week and still can't decide which one to go for.

The Gti is apparantly that bit faster than the CC cause it's not got that heavy folding roof. But I didn't notice.
The main thing I noticed is that it does feel a bit tighter. Obviously there's less chassis flex on the Gti than on the CC.
The suspension is harder on the Gti which some people like, some don't.
But you can't put the roof down

To me their is only one winner - the CC!
My next door neighbour owns a GTi and has even said to me that he wished he had gone for the CC!
The CC is extremely similar to the GTi but with the added feature of a convertible!

Well I have taken the 2litre CC out and the GTI out for a test drive and this is what I though.

The GTI I found a lot more faster?????? Dont know why as I was expecting only a small difference as they both have the same engine. The GTI had a lot more cabin space compared to the CC. The CC however with the full black leather looked for some reason a lot better and stylish. As for handling I found the GTI perhaps a bit more better but nothing major. I know have the major task of deciding which one to go for.

As for looks the CC looked the better of the two without a doubt.

I am in such a delimer now as I dont know what to go for.

Looks or Performance.

One major difference was the price

CC = £17000 with full leather
GTI = £14000 with full leather

At the end of the day it was a plessure to drive both cars. pedals could have been a bit further apart though :0).

One thing for sure though when you sit in the CC you get noticed. In some way good and other ways bad (jealous people around).

Anybody else have any views on this subject???
Regards

Gareth

What about a different car...
Puma's are very nice and are said to be the best small coupe money can buy.

Haven't they stopped (or are about to stop) making the Puma now though?

when i decided to get a CC SE after having a 206 1.4LX, i didn't even think about a GTi, the CC is the only choice and £3k isn't much of a difference.

The Ford Puma has stopped but I did own one for 2 years, I liked driving it, the room on the back seatsn can seat people with no legs. You can still get a Brand new Puma from any Dealer out ther you may even find th Puma Thunder with All the extra's, but you still won't get the looks as I do in the 206cc

the fact that they have stopped building the puma yet you can still get a new one from a dealer says it all. you may have to wait on the CC but at least it is NEW and hasn't been sitting in a yard for weeks or months.

I think that the reason GTi is faster, is first, it has shorter transmission than CC and second, GTi comes with 15" wheels instead of CC that comes with 16". So it has to do with acceleration.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

They are still making the puma for a few more months
The thunder is the last edition and the last few are still being built. Only 1500 are being made and they are expected to sell quick. worth a look

The gear ratios in the 206GTI and 2.0 CC SE are the Same...

The GTi in the UK is supplied with 16" wheels as standard

I previously owned a 206GT, Yes it is a little quicker due to the weight difference.. But not really by much... The GTi stiffness does make high speed cornering more comfortable...

But the CC is a "Cat" magnet if you know what I mean!!

Other differences between the GTi & CCse are:

At the Front, both cars share the SAME Front antiroll bar, the front Struts/Springs, but the dampers are a little softer on the CC..
(I recommend fitting a Strut Brace too either 206CC... It stiffens the front up a treat when the roof is down)

At the Rear.. The Beam is the same.. But The CC's antiroll bar and torsion bars are 2mm thinner... (I recommend fitting the GTi rear antiroll bar to the CCse... To stop rear end roll on cornering)..

CC any day!!!!

I agree with the earlier comments about Pumas. Nice but, Melanie has had 2 of them She wanted something quicker and had tried the GTi and liked it. When she got her hands on my CC that was it she had to have one of her own.

And this is a woman who never liked soft tops before.

The CC wins easily. Besides, depending how long you intend to keep it for, I know it costs more to buy, but will also return more when you sell it. Look at what it works out per mile and the CC beats the Gti once again.

Oh sod it - just BUY THE CC

Right Simon,
I forgot the weight. The roof mechanism I suppose gives CC little more weight.
