Engine not getting up to temperature

Hi all, I am a new member and new owner.

I just bought a 2006 206cc 'sport' (don't know what the 'sport' bit means) and everything works absolutely fine apart from the fact that the car doesn't get up to temperature. It just sits at around 70-75. Not much heat from the heater either..

I got no paperwork with the car, and have no idea of its history, but the service light is on.

I have ordered a new thermostat and plan to set about changing it when it arrives.

Is there anything else I can check first, or is the thermostat the first thing to try?

Any advice would be appreciated.

First thing is thermostat. I would also change cam belt if you have no history

Just for closure, thermostat has now been replaced and the temperature is holding right around 90.

One other question though. Does anyone know what the difference is between a 206cc and a 206cc Sport ??

I think it's a trim level thing. As I recall, Sport= basic model (no leather, climate control, fancy wheels....)

Really? So there is nothing 'sporty' about the 'sport' model, but it just might be a little bit lighter due to having crappy parts?

That is actually easy to believe as I looked at one with a nicer interior and it all felt more solid, you got a much nicer ''thunk' when you closed the doors..

Probably just Peugeot's attempt to shift stock at the end of the production run.

They all do it .. stick badges on low spec models to shift them. So may add alloys or spoilers to make them look "sporty" too.

Yeah I get that, but this 'sports' model doesn't have Any of that stuff, it doesn't even have a badge, or even an S!

I only found out it was the 'sport' when my insurance company told me!

No, because all the 206ccs have 16 valve engines.

It's purely a "trim" thing .. and to try and shift a few old models .. putting "Sport" in the brochure is there to try and sell more .. and they may nave had optional extras meaning not all "Sports" were the same. Some dealers would also throw in an "option" or two to sell a car.

Our LE didn't have an LE badge .. it was down to trim and "features" like the type of wheels but even they could be changed ...
