Can anyone tell me if the cambelt tensioners on a 2 litre 02 plate 206cc are manual or automatic?

My 2001 was manual (square hole in tensioner adj'd with a section of domestic door handle to door handle connection rod but my 2005 is autoish with the pointers on

Later engines apparently also need to have the belt tension set using a special tool .. sorry, PDF attachment quality is pretty poor as this was sent to me, but it specifies it all from step 36.

I've never actually seen anyone use one of these and a few years ago I asked at the Peugeot garage if they had one to hire and just got a blank expression back.
Not saying that it's absolutely necessary but by all accounts can probably get by without one if you know what your doing
