Roof won't open - 3 rapid beeps repeat three times

Hi,
I've read a lot of the posts on here and have tried moving the white U clips through 90 degrees and also ensuring the sensor under boot extending tray is down etc.. I'm parked, handbrake on, engine running and I put the windows down first (how guy I bought it off showed me) and then unlock the two big roof clips. I get the bong noise and then when I used the roof activation lever/button I just get three rapid beeps which repeat three times. I've tried not putting windows down first, I've tried without engine on, I've tried moving the white clips through 90 degrees etc. But I just get the noise of the beeps the whole time. Any ideas? I was unsure when other people say they can't open if they were also getting the same beeping noise.... It did work fine when I first got it and have used about three times and then now (in my first week of having in this month with lovely weather) now nothing.....

should add that I only get the noise when trying to lower roof - not whole time while driving. ....although I did get three slow beeps but when I turned car on the oil level came up on dash as high and when I checked the seller had put in too much oil.... hence the three slow beeps all time when driving. I;ve now drained some oil out and it has now stopped that noise.

Probably something to do with the micro switches, search on here for the threads about where they are located and how to check them.

In fact thinking back I had this problem with my roof, on my 52 plate the book lock was out of line so the car thought the boot was open and sounded the warning bongs, when you get the bongs is there anything showing on the central screen above the hazard warning light switch? on mine you got an outline of the car and the boot area flashed.

Best thing would be to get Peugeot Planet 2000 diagnostic system onto it. It should point to the problem area.

Thanks for thoughts. Unfortunately the display in central column doesn't work in my car - was disconnected to attach a radio (or so seller said!). I don't get bongs but I get three rapid beeps (rising in pitch) which repeat three times. I will try and get a diagnostic on it but it is hard for me to get it to garage.... but do you think it is worth me doing a reset by disconnecting battery? It was all working fine but I think I confused it when I tried doing roof in wrong order.... It is an 02 plate..

Putting a non-standard radio in does stop the mfd showing the radio station but everything else should work

Wrong order of what? All you need for the roof to go down is the car stopped (actually less than something like 5mph), the blind in place and the boot shut, the latches undone and the ignition on (but better to have the engine running).
