Second hand 206 key flop not working

Post by mason149 »

Hi everyone, I just bought a second hand 03 plate 206, but has been told the remote lock is not working. Now I got a 2 button remote key flop which the remote lock function is not working, but I can start the car and lock the door manually with that key. With that remote, when I press the lock/unlock button. The car will make some noise which is a small "click" sound following a second of noise which sounds like changing the CD in the stereo. I would like to have the remote locking function back. I have bought a new key flop from EBay, and reprogramme it by all the method I can found online, not include using the planet. And I couldn't link my car to the new key flop. Can anyone tell me whats wrong with my car and how to fix it?

Many Thanks

The first problem is probably a malfunction of the remote receiver in the car. It requires Peugeot Planet to diagnose.

The only way to program the new fob to the car is with Peugeot Planet. The fob has to be virgin (never programmed). There are four "flavours" of fob for the 206, depending on age of car and whether it has front fogs. Unless the seller addressed that point, the chances are you have the wrong fob.

If you want to know the correct fob for your car, post the last eight characters of your VIN, and we can look it up in Service Box - or you can register on Service Box and do it yourself. Once you know the correct fob, you can look for that part number on the web. To program it, you will need the security code supplied originally with the car - if you do not have it, you can get it from here.

Sounds like original key was OK but fault with one of the lock servos. The car wouldn't have *clicked* and made the CD noise if the key didn't work.
Cheers Col.
