206cc with lots of niggles!

Post by Pugpug77 »

Yesterday we bought a 2003 206cc allure 1.6 it's very rough but it was cheap and it's a summer project

Am hoping I can get help with any of my long list of niggles

So here goes....

First up its had a bump on the drivers rear quarter and it's had a god awful repair done on it which is gonna require being taken back and repaired properly

Passenger front wing also bashed

Front bumper scraped but repairable

Both wing mirrors have been knocked about and will require replacing

Bonnet is very rusty will require replacing

Lacquer peeling from roof

Ignition and door locks are different keys so would like to get them all the same maybe need to purchased a full lock set???

Passenger front seat belt doesn't recoil

So any help and info on any of these issues will be much appreciated

Thanks

Wing mirrors: The cheap Chinese ones on EBay do not fit the 206cc, and replacements for the 206cc tend to be very pricey. However, there is an article somewhere about putting the outer bit (the bit that usually gets damaged) onto the original base.

Locks: If you do buy a complete set, you will want to swap your "new" blade into the original fob, which is programmed to the car. When you do this, be careful not to lose the little chip clipped into the case (it's separate to the board), as it is the immobiliser, and is also programmed to the car. If you lose it, you will need a new fob and chip, and they will have to be programmed together to the car.

Ian has covered the locks for you, but regarding bodywork
Front wing is bolt on
Rear wing is weld on

I would replace panels and repair others as needed, then get the car sprayed (unless this is something you can do yourself)
Cheers Col.

Going to change the front wing and bonnet

cars currently having the back wing stripped back and filled ready for painting

Now don't suppose it's a problem but never had this with previous cars but when using the remote for the 206cc (now it doesn't actually open the car central locking isn't working) it turns the radio on in our 2004 206???

It sounds like the logic in the BSI of the 2004 car is scrambled (technical term :) )

Try a BSI reboot.

Thats because when you operate the remote the radio comes on when the doors open so the circuit is working just the motors aren't actuating.

I just found it strange that the remote for one car operates the radio in another car

If Slo is correct that the fob is starting the radio as an accompaniment to opening the door locks, there is clearly a software error. The 2004 car should (and, I gather, does) reject the unlock command from the fob of the 206cc, and it clearly should also reject the command as regards the radio. So either the software is buggy as written, or it has developed an error, which is why I suggested a BSI reboot.

Wtf it turns the radio on in another car? lol sorry I missed that, now that is weird. :eat:

When you unlock the car with the remote it just wakes up the bsi so the interior light will come on and radio will play for 3 minutes thats all I meant by my last, ive never seen a bsi reboot fix anything to date, starting to wonder if its a hoax.

I think you have a problem with your radio or the wiring to it.

Neither of our Pugs (in fact no car I've owned or used) turn the radio on via the remote ....

Lots of people have reported success with a reboot after weird things have happened :yikes:

I haven't done a bsi reboot on the 2004 car but I will get round to it! Just found it amusing that this happened!

So rear wings filled and prepared for painting and we picked up a front wing and bonnet today in the same paint code

Does the seat belt need to be from a cc?? Just so I know as am going back the scrappy tomorrow they have a cc but it's On top of a van .... Don't fancy trying to get that out
