Hi all, I was wondering if there's a way to bypass or modify the roof ecu speed sensor so I can open and close the roof while going a bit faster than 8 km/h.
From reading over related posts I realize I can't just disconnect the wire because the ecu needs the speed info, is it possible to "let it know" the car is stopped as a permanent mode?

No. It's unsafe to do so ..

Re: Roof operation while driving above 8 km/h
Thanks for the fast answer, can you tell me what is unsafe in doing that? The reason is I have a quite long slow-drive road going to and from my parking, it is a closed parking area with no intersections and no people walking nearby, just a flat and slow drive all the way to the gate, but I guess I go about 15-20 km/h for some good 30-40 seconds (!) and it would be so nice to close the roof while getting to my parking spot instead of just sit and wait for it to close...

There is some software available to do this, but I wouldn't recommend it. Peugeot put that speed limit on for a reason, and these roofs are problematic enough without introducing another potential issue.

The boot lid will either break off or fold/buckle with the wind resistance thats why.

There is also another train of thought.. its his car and he can do whatever he likes with it
(providing its not endangering anyone else). Like Capricol says it can be done, not something i would bother with right enough. Be interesting to hear if you manage to do it.

It is ... So let's leave it to him to find out rather than be implicated in any court case when it all goes t*ts up and he rips the roof off at 90kph ... :-)

Re: Roof operation while driving above 8 km/h
I wasn't planning on doing that at highway speeds...I'm not trying to fly the car, yet
yes the wind might rip the lid off and it's also a distraction from driving, definitely unsafe. At 15-20 km/h it shouldn't be an issue...I still do it today while crawling in 1st gear, I just wanna be able to go a bit faster in case someone gets behind me.
Thanks CAPNCOL but I rather avoid messing with it softwarewise, I'm looking for more of a physical action such as disconnecting/bypassing some wires, so incase something goes wrong I can reverse my actions. Maybe it's possible to measure the voltage the roof's ecu gets from the speed sensor, and then put a resistor or something "in the way" to keep providing the same info when the car goes over 8 km/h.
I will come back and update here if I manage to figure something out

Its not a voltage it measures its a pulse, so just disconnecting the sense wire will probably confuse it and disable it since it will know it should be detecting road speed.
Like you said though no harm in trying you can always reconnect it again

Re: Roof operation while driving above 8 km/h
People have been known to corrupt the roof ECU simply by letting go of the roof switch mid operation, or by switching off ign mid cycle.
You are asking for trouble operating it on the move.If you stall the car or have to take your finger off the switch for whatever reason mid cycle, you could corrupt the ECU. If you think it's worth the risk, then by all means go for it.
There is no resistor or wiring bypass you can do. The mod involves a *plug in* box, a bit like those chip tuning boxes and it goes between the wiring and ECU.
