Engine oil type

Hi, I know this is a crazy question , but ive looked everywhere To try and find the answer, without any success. My wife drives a 206cc 1.6 2005, what I need to know is what type oil I should put in when I do the oil change tomorrow ? I'm not fussy on the makers name of oil, but I need to know if it's 5w30 or 5w40 ? The problem I've got is... Ive googled it and I've watched people use both of the above, so this as confused me And also is the oil filter easy to remove ? Is it a spanner or a belt I use to remove it ?

The viscosity is only part of it. The Service spec is just as important to ensure it contains the right additives for your engine. It's all given in the owners manual. You can download it from our site if you don't have one.

I don't think the oil spec is in the owners manual. It is in the service booklet. For the petrol 1.6 206cc it is Total Quartz 9000 5w40 Fully Synthetic oil. Always use a genuine Peugeot oil filter too as some aftermarket ones have been known to collapse and cause low oil pressure problems. I use a suitable socket to fit the hexagon on the filter cover. Torque wrench settings are 22 lbf ft for the sump drain plug and 18 lbf ft for the oil filter cover. Fit a new O-ring seal to the filter cover and apply a little clean oil to it.

Hey there thanks for this it has helped me with the oil type for my car. I was however wondering which make oil filter to get? As I don't want to end up buying some after market crap and causing myself some problems thanks in advance!

I always buy a genuine Peugeot filter from the Peugeot dealers as they are not expensive.
