New Buyer!

Post by Kirisute »

Picking up my 206cc tomorrow!
05 Allure with 34k on the clock!
Bit of a bargain £3000 I thought?
I'm downsizing from a 407! Lol

So? Anyone got any noob hints and tips for me? It's just been MOT'd so presumption is it must be in fairly good condition.
First project will be scratch touch up, then purchasing RD3 unit to reinstall..it's currently got a kenwood system but the steering stalk doesn't work. (Might purchase converter; but I'm dreading what wiring hell I might find behind it all!)

Cam belt history? 10 years old? Puncture aerosols? Got 2? 10 years old? ( get a Green Slime kit - it comes with an electric pump). Locking wheel nuts? Got the adapter, then check its the right one for the car.
Sounds like you've got a nice chariot at £3k.

Cheers: got poly box but didn't check for foam.
Got FSH so I'm guessing no cam belt change yet.
Got a link to slime kit?

get space saver wheel and tyre, check the cam belt, check the oil and air and pollen, check all discs for wear and pad depth. Replace the correct stalk with the head unit. The rest the pros will help you with.

I too have just got my Allure and am starting with the essentials and what I think is broken and needs replacing, then I am going to start blinging and sound upgrading.

Well: drove it home today!
Nice car!
Seems tidy and runs well!
First jobs:
Few bits of paint touch up: sill on drivers side has some paint scrape/ rust. Need to investigate and rub down/ spray
Gonna swap out current wipers for flat blades
Going to spray plastic wiper joint cover to match body
Might convert kenwood head unit to work with remote column. It has an aux input which I can use for my iPod.
What's reccomended cam belt mileage/ age?

Puncture kit - read all about it at slime.com
Cam belt - 80k miles or 10 years. Wise owners go for 40k. Cam belt failure will reduce your car to a write-off, so best not to risk it. Oh!, and for the little additional expense, replace the water pump, auxiliary belt, and idler assembly at the same time.

As it's 10 years old and if you don't have any history, cam belt needs doing now. They degrade and even though it's low mileage the rubber will be starting to harden probably.
