Hi all.
I have downloaded diagbox and in currently looking at the pp2000 interfaces on ebay to buy seem to be around £60 is this the cheapest place to get them?.
With this would i be able to map out the dpf filter and egr myself if i removed them. And also is there a common file to remap the engine to stage 1 or a how to somewhere?
Thanks for any help on this guys! :-)
I've ordered all the service parts so will be carrying out a full service prior to the above.

Re: diagbox and pp2000
You can't remap anything with diagbox or pp2000 ... You need specialised software and knowledge.

You might be better off asking the GTI boys and gals on 206info or peugeotforums ...

Re: diagbox and pp2000
Yes.
Download and install VMWare Player (free)
Using a copy of XPSP3 (32-bit) for which you have the key code, install a virtual machine. This sounds techy, but it is very easy.
Install PP2000 into the VM.
If you want Diagbox as well, create another VM (using Player - it supports multiple VMs) and install it into that.
Diagbox can be installed directly onto the 64-bit system, but the cut-down version of PP2000 which it contains will not run.
Tip - when you are finished a session of PP2000, do not close it. Just close the Player by choosing Suspend, and it will restart in seconds rather than minutes.

Re: diagbox and pp2000
So I need a VM player for the PP2000 and a separate VM player for the diagbox? Yes, sounds techy, can you advise how to install the diagbox to the VM player or point me to a site explaining the procedure?

Re: diagbox and pp2000
No, that is not what I said. You only need one Player installation - it supports multiple virtual machines (copies of WinXP). Once you have installed VMWare Player, the subsequent steps are made clear by the Player. It is very simple and self-explanatory.
As for installing Diagbox - just open the VM and install it in the normal way - as if you were installing on an XP computer. It's not rocket science.
If you want more, there are many tutorials on YouTube. Just Google it.

That's why I ended up here because I "googled It"". Might as well check more tutorials online, thanks anyway. Atleast your inputs are additional knowledge.
It might not be rocket science for those who know software....but it is for others. That's why we ask. Thanks.

Virtual machine is a waste of time and causes nothing but problems with drivers, just get yourself an old laptop with a knackered battery for about 15 quid off ebay and install windows xp, fully update it then install pp2000 on it, thats all you need. With no other programs installed it will run pretty quickly.
Its driver is 32bit and this is the main reason it wont work on any 64 bit windows versions, not only that the host operating system (that runs the laptop) usually hogs the lexia driver, rendering the virtual machine unable to access it since hardware can only be used by one machine at a time.

You must have been strangely unfortunate in your experience with VMs. I have three Win 10 64-bit laptops which run VMWare Player and I can assure you that they support Planet perfectly. Perhaps your problem arose if you plugged in the Lexia hardware before you installed Planet? In any event, Player has a control to enable you to take control of the plug-in peripherals away from the host OS.Slo wrote:Virtual machine is a waste of time and causes nothing but problems with drivers, just get yourself an old laptop with a knackered battery for about 15 quid off ebay and install windows xp, fully update it then install pp2000 on it, thats all you need. There are other VM software. I have no experience of them, but I have found VMWare Player to be rock-solid.

Re: diagbox and pp2000
Experience went something like windows 7 installs the driver then inside the vm the program wont run because the driver is already in use, then when taking control of the driver inside the vm it installs fine and the device lights up green yet the program wont run like its not plugged in.
I know what im doing too, a newbie to this wont stand a chance hence asking for advice so simple advice is get an old cheap laptop with windows xp and it will work flawless.

Re: diagbox and pp2000
Maybe it's a Win7 issue - I've only used Win10 for Planet.
As I recall, I did not plug the hardware in until the VM was in place and Planet had started to install. Plugged it in when the Planet installer asked for it, and the installer read the driver from the installation disk and installed it into the VM. At no stage did the host OS interact with the hardware.
How I operate it now is to restore the VM from the suspended state. It is suspended with Planet still running, so the first thing that happens is a request for the hardware. Plug that in and we're off.
I've tried an old 32-bit XP laptop. Yes, it works, but it is frustratingly slow, running Planet. Booting Planet takes 2-3 minutes. Ten times faster with Win10 and the VM. Part of that is the slower PC, but having the suspended VM is a major factor.
However, if you're happy with what you have, no problem.

Wow, very informative conversation. That's considered rocket science to us not software experts. Thanks for the info.
So, we can either use an old 32-bit laptop with windows XP or a 64-bit laptop with VM player with Windows 10. So Windows 7 is not advisable.
Is VMplayer free and can you point us to a good download site? TIA
