Rev counter jumps when you unlock the car/start the car

Post by leegsi »

Any idea why my rev counter flicks a few times when I unlock the car?

Once the BSI sleeps and I turn the ignition on it also does it.

This then makes the rev counter over read

Video of it: Image

One of those strange ones I think. Could be caused by an old battery. There are many posts on here where old failing batteries are causing weird problems

As this is on 206info too, it looks like the needle is in the wrong place as it starts at 500rpm!! So the jump isn't all down to electrics possibly.

Didn't watch the video to be honest. I kept getting a "message alert" window across half the vid so gave up

I will pull the needle off and set it in the right place and see what happens.

Will also try it with a known good battery
