Post by Above The Clouds »

Hi all

But after checking the battery for info its stamped Toyota 41ah-335a bc1-360
Can this be right ?? or maybe replaced some time ago with a alternative ??

I went for an Exide EA530. Fits perfectly, performs well, reasonable price.

Most importantly is to make sure it's 190mm high! But GM's will be ...

Then concentrate on the amperage, etc.

The other 206s have a lower battery and it uts strain on the terminals if you put it in a CC.

Might be the higher battery has some sort of higher capacity to handle the roof ... I actually don't know ...

Gazza is right. The one that I recommended is exactly the right size and spec. The battery for the hatchbacks doesn't have to cope with all the extra work that the roof mechanism involves.

The 206cc battery is 190mm tall whereas the one for the hatchback is only 175mm tall. You only replace the battery about every 8 years - so don't skimp. I paid £59.99 including delivery. I think they're about £65 now on the internet sites.

Follow the correct battery connection/reconnection procedure to the letter too.

IF they last that long ... most have a max of 5 year guarantee so they tend to start to fail soon after that ... most I've got from one is 8 years, but most 5-6 ...

The last one in Alfa is a Yuasa and has lasted 6 years almost to the day ... fitted 15th November 2008

See here:

There is also a brief warning note on page 109 of the owner's manual but the thread above is more comprehensive. I'd read them both before you do the job.

Quick update: measured the battery in the 2.0CC and it's 190mm high so a 027 battery. Same as the 1.4 HDi ... which is a hatchback. So PETROL hatches have the 175mm battery .. the 063.
CC and diesels have the taller battery then.

Hi,
Type 027 or 027T battery is what you need. Should be 63Ahr and try and get the better 630A CCA type instead of the 590 one. The type T is hens Teeth but will be even better.
I am talking about the battery for a 2L 16v 2002 206CC.
Cheers,
Iain.

Well done - glad you've done it ok. Enjoy your motoring again. Glad to be of help.

What did you pay - £65?
