Car wont start - but fine first thing in a morning

Post by Allieg2000 »

Hi All,

I am having problem with my 206 cc - its on an 04 plate - it has done 70,000 miles and is petrol

I have had the car for a year and it has been serviced and MOT'd in that time and started having problem about august and slowly getting worse. The car starts fine in a morning, has never once let me down - however I can drive 3 miles turn the car off and attempt to restart it again and there is nothing! When you turn the key you hear a click but nothing further. The central locking works, radio, wipes etc are all fine!

If I leave the car for a while (can be anywhere from 10 mins to an hour) it will start fine. To start with the problem occurred during the hot weather and I thought the car was over heating (even thought the temp gauge was not going up) and that it just needed time to cool but it is doing in the cold weather now and there does not seem to be a pattern to it - apart from the fact its fine in a morning.

When I have been unable to start it - I have been able to bump start it but this is not practical for the amount of times its doing it in a day now

Has anyone heard of this problem or any ideas where I should start looking to correct the problem?

Thanks :)

It's a common fault with the starter motor.
Search the forum, there are many posts like yours

Better still, put the details in your signature.
