Engine Stalling Whilst driving !!!???

Post by Above The Clouds »

I am beginning to wonder if we were right in buying a 206cc ?????????
Yet another issue :hmm:
Whilst driving to work last week the engine decided to stall problem was I was turning a corner :o unable to to get round the corner as its impossible to turn the steering wheel when the engine has stopped running ...
Thank god there was no one behind me..
Thought hay ho one off, engine re started straight away and thought no more of it....
until 2 days later it happened again almost at the same spot 12 miles from home to work
Does anyone know what is might be..........

I'd try and get the fault codes read. It could be several things and we'd be jumping to conclusions without some sort of idea .. and that approach could hurt your pocket! :?

As it's a 55 plate you should be able to use a generic EOBD diagnostic ... but this is a Peugeot so that might be wishful thinking!

Battery connection? Check the height of your battery, it could be 175mm tall, it should be 190mm tall.

Use of a shorter battery can give the symptoms you describe.

Gazza is right to recommend getting the fault codes read though. Some people have spent a fortune on guessing, e.g. http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15140

Great advice once again thanks all
Thanks Grandad monkey I've just checked my battery and its 175mm high this has been replaced at some point in the past as its a Toyota battery ???
I have had the car couple of months this problem has started 2/3 weeks ago could it be this ??
Should I change the battery first before heading off back to the garage ???
That link was very informative but had my cambelt changed only last month so shouldn't be that, also serviced at the same time new plugs filters etc no mention of the battery ??
What amp battery should it be ? will check against mine.
Thanks Again :popping:

I put the link there to show how people sometimes waste a lot of money by guessing.

It will be the shorter battery causing connectivity problems unless someone thought to pack it up with 15mm thick board underneath it. The issue is so common you would not believe it. All caused by lack of knowledge and/or trying to buy the cheapest battery.

I'm pretty sure it'll be the battery connections under strain. I'd fit the correct battery if I were you. Your symptoms should then disappear. I strongly recommend the Exide EA 530.
