Re: Turns over but won't start!!
You can't recode using pp. Info has to be downloaded by the dealer directly from PSA.This is because it is a security issue other wise cars could be nicked left right and centre and simply ringed by anyone with a copy of PP. Sounds poss immobiliser fault. Have you got a spare ign key to try?
Cheers Col.

Yes, tried a spare key, but same result. I've ordered a complete BSI/ECU set from eBay now. Let's hope it works!

Re: Turns over but won't start!!
Yes that's exactly what I've done aswell, no different with the other key so going to hunt for a bis/ecu with matching part numbers on eBay today.. Comes with keys, locks, ign barrel and transponder aswell so can't see it not working.. I had a similar issue with a Clio that I done the same thing with and it worked absolutely perfect afterwards

Read this thread http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic ... 5&start=45
to see that changing the ecu /bsi is not always as simple as you would think. Reading the whole thead is interesting but the ecu/bsi issues start on pg4.

If you are after a bit of help, it would be better to start your own thread giving all the details of the car and the problem. You can do that by clicking the blue "New topic" button at the top of the appropriate section.

Re: Turns over but won't start!!
hi i've managed to get hold of a kit from a donor car consisting of bsi/ecu/key/barrel/transponder/door locks & fuel cap.. both bsi and ecu have exact same part numbers to my original ones.. ive also bought the pp2000/lexia diagnostics equipment to.. Capncol is there a specific procedure to changing these items as i dont want to ruin the chances of this curing my problem.. thanks alot

Re: Turns over but won't start!!
Hi Tom,
I still have the same issue I'm afraid. I got a donor set the same as you (bsi/ecu/key/transponder & locks) and swapped everything over, but so that I didn't have to change all of the locks & ignition, i swapped the key blades over.
Everything was fitted to the car after disconnecting the battery following the correct procedure.
But, no difference. The engine turns over but won't fire. There was a problem however with the donor set in that the central locking didn't work and when I went into the system with PP2000, the engine ecu wouldn't reply. Unfortunately I couldn't re-code the key as I didn't get the key code with the replacement set. I know I can get hold of the code, so that maybe something I will do.
The latest is that all of the original parts are back in the car. After re-installing the originals I went into PP2000 again and did a global test. Initially, the engine ecu didn't reply (which it did originally) and there was also a communication error between the ABS ecu and the engine ecu. The ignition was still on and I went to check the plugs on the engine ecu and as I touched the plug/loom on the ecu nearest the headlight, I heard the throttle body make a high pitched sound. As i moved the loom the sound would start & stop. I positioned the loom to where the noise was constant and then re-run the global test on PP and low & behold the engine ecu replied this time. But the car still won't start!!
I have also tried a replacement engine fusebox, but it seems clear to me now, that the problem lies in the loom somewhere. This is where I'm going to struggle though and I could really do with a wiring diagram and also knowing what fuses / pins should be live in the bsi, bm34 fusebox and ecu, so that I can begin fault finding the wiring.
Any help greatly appreciated!!!

Yes follow the BSI Reset / Battery removal procedure located near the top of the electrical forum. Change it over with battery disconnected.LVS wrote:hi i've managed to get hold of a kit from a donor car consisting of bsi/ecu/key/barrel/transponder/door locks & fuel cap.. both bsi and ecu have exact same part numbers to my original ones.. ive also bought the pp2000/lexia diagnostics equipment to.. Try changing the crank position sensor before going to far. This is a common non start cause that doesn't always throw up a code.

Re: Turns over but won't start!!
Nice one ill try that later on when i get back thanks! Yes that's what i was planning on doing with my key as well to save some aggro.. blimey that's a bit of a result finding that! hopefully its just a dodgy wire that needs repairing and you should be on your way, I've read on here somewhere about that being the case for someone else, apparently it was the power feed wire to the ecu that had corroded so the ecu wasn't getting power.. they repaired it and ran fine after that, thinking this could be a possible common problem if me and you have to go down the same route?!
Thanks Tom
Thanks Tom

Cheers Capncol,
New crank sensor ordered, so will try that this evening. I'll let you know the outcome.

Re: Turns over but won't start!! ** FIXED **
Finally got to the bottom of my problem!
It turned out to be one of the plugs on the ECU that was causing the issue. There was a hairline crack in the plastic between two of the tiny pins on the black plug of the ECU which was causing a bad/no contact.
Car now starts & runs fine!!!
I now have a Happy Wife. I'm sure it won't last!

Great news, well done Tom!
I just need to get hold of a replacement ECU plug now and swap it over.
All the best
Stuart.
