Hey folks wondering if anyone can give me some specifics on the back box.
Heres the story.
Bought the car with a known failed back box. Replaced with generic bit from Andy Page. This generic box is somewhat larger then the one i replaced and has not started to clonk and rattle. On a moderately bumpy back street the car sounds like a transit with a bed full of scaffy pipe!
I've check heat shields and the like and Im 99% certain its the back box / pipe clonking off the chassis bars and the bottom of the axle, it has that vibraty hollow clanky noise.
Anyone got the part number for the right back box please? I havent ruled out the fact that it could also be a failed baffle in the box. I'll be pulling it off tonight to give it a good shake..
Cheers
K

As long as water isn't falling out of the sky, the roof can be down.

Re: Ye Olde Exhaust Rattles
I have similar problem with new Supersprint exhaust. Sounds like dustbin lids banging together, but fades away once warmed up. Professional diagnosis was bottom engine mount bush. Seeing the tail pipe move about an inch, I agreed, and all engine mounts are now being replaced. Hoping for a quieter car tomorrow.
