I have a 206 cc 03 plate 1.6
Just bought it and it overheated straight away. Took it to a garage who put in a new radiator (I pointed out it had one the years before on the documents and it was gleaming. The flushed it out twice and put a new thermostat in (which was one of my suggestions.) It did not solve the problem as it air cools on long runs but if it sits around in traffic it over heats and the engine coolant too hot light comes on an the stop instruction. The fan is going but seems to be more of a drone than rapid fan. The temp was not going down evn after the fn was running after switch off - I then changed - or a new guy changed both sensors but it still did not solve the problem. A mechanic looked at it and told ne the water ppump was woring and it wasn't a head gasket and there was no leak . Could it be a faulty sensor int eh EMU or the relay. The chap also suggested that the transformer on the radiotor which determines how fast and when it comes on may be faulty -it is a mystery - any suggesitons - it is hot in the summer as well #
so BASICALLLY
It says to stop as overheating on the temp gauge and the coolant too hot command
It does not bubble over or loose water
Changed- radiator, two sensors, thermostat - flushed water coolant - al
What can I do ---- reset the ECU (EMU) by taking the batterey off - also the hot air is not hot at firsts and the AC is not working - will that have an effect thanks

Re: Engine over heating
I know you have changed the sensors but our 1.4 had a habit of doing that and you could tell it wasn't hot enough to be true. Changed the sensor and all was well ... Until rad blow a joint and needed a new one.
To reset the ecu properly you need PP2000.

Re: Engine over heating
I had a similar problem with a Renault Espace years ago. Sorted out the fans (twin fans on that car) and that cured the problem.

Re: Engine over heating
thanks to all - the fan worked at full speed when I took the sensor off - they thought it souclj be the transponder but I think maybe the fan is the problem - I had a montego which did exactly the same thing ut ran but slowly - got anew part and boom problem solved
