Roof / Radio / Console display

Post by jasonclatworthy »

Hi all,

6 months ago I purchased a 206. I drove it around for a couple of weeks after that I then covered her up and that was that. Everything was working until recently. Now that the days are getting longer and somewhat warmer'ish I want to get her back on the road. Unfortunately ive come across a few problems so I was hoping I could get some advice and maybe with the help of this community I can solve the problem without having to unnecessarily splashing cash. So here goes:

Note: Prior to me experiencing these problems I had to use jump leads to start the car.......

ROOF - Then sheet (or cover) is slid across in the boot, the ignition is on 'M' mode. I unlatch roof, get the audible sound. Then when I pull the roof down lever I get a single, yet constant tone. Have I forgot something? is there checks I can do?
RADIO - Is requesting a code. Of which I don't have. Now ive been to some websites and entered the radio details like make, model, serial number etc. I just wont carry on the next stage because its going to cost me £25 to retrieve a code. A friend said that I can get it free....................... Does anyone know where??
Console - With my experience with most Peugeots the most common thing that goes is the LED console that shows date, time, etc. Is there anywhere that sells them on the cheap???

Sorry for the "cheek" approach.

I look forward in my reply.

Thank you all in advance

You need to find and get a decent and CORRECT battery specifically for a 206CC. Ones for the standard 206 are too short (although if you can find out the difference between the 2 sizes you may be able to pack one up from underneath - however it may not be secure).

Then you need to follow the proper BSI reset procedure, which can also be found by searching this site.

You ought to only try operating the roof when the engine is running. It's a very power hungry system and will quickly kill a battery on it's own without support from the alternator.

If it's a standard radio, the code is the VIN number, but this needs programming in using Peugeot Planet 2000 diagnostic kit and software. Put your location in your profile - maybe one of us on here is close enough to help. Otherwise you'll have to go to PeugeotForums and look in the PP2000 map on there.

You can try eBay for the Multi-Function-Displays, but you need to get the part number off your existing one first.

There are at least FOUR different types of MFD ... depends on car electrical system (pre-mux/mux) and number of lines on display. Some are swappable, some aren't!

Gently pull the top cover off and you can get to the display. Disconnect it and check the bulbs (three or four depending on type). If still doesn't work after replacing all bulbs it could be the pins that connect the two circuit boards have come away (dry joints). A gentle dab or two with a soldering iron usually works!
