and can i shop no 1 piston coming up to crack crank bolt? Sorry. No idea what you mean

also can i use the original head bolts? You are suppoed to renew, but the old ones will be fine if this is the first time the head has been off.
thank you in advance mark.

Ah! Gotcha.

No don't do that you will damage the piston. Use a long *Knuckle bar* with a socket on the bolt. Jamb the knuckle bar against the clockwise rotation of the pulley (either the ground or the suspension) Then simply flick the ignition key to start pos VERY BRIEFLY! You don't want the engine to start or even crank over. It may take a couple of goes, but it will come loose.
It goes without saying you do this before removing the belt unless the head is still off.

The other way is to remove the starter and jamb the ring gear with a piece of angle iron or similar.
Cheers Col.

stupid me lol

or just put the rd wheel on, jack it down on some wood (to keep clearance under car) them put in gear

thats same as an air gun, but thank you

we used to do this years a go on the london cabs, Use a long *Knuckle bar* with a socket on the bolt. Jamb the knuckle bar against the clockwise rotation of the pulley (either the ground or the suspension) Then simply flick the ignition key to start pos VERY BRIEFLY!

Must admit I use a buzz gun, but realise a lot of people dont have one. You think this is bad, try the later Zetec *keyless cranks*
I use my 1" drive gun on those. It is only the bolt tension that stops the pulley turning on the crank, and they are unbelivably tight.
