New cc owner, obvious question about boot.

Ok. Just bought my first ever 206cc. Wanted one for ages. It's a 51 reg. I love it. But I can't open the boot, I put my key in the lock, turn the key, nothing happened. But the boot does open, the salesman at the dealers opened it and so did the guy at the carwash. I keep trying and I can't open the boot. The boot works fine to put the roof in, just not the shopping.

When that happened we had to change the actuator motor. It connects to the key with short piece of stiff wire. That had got bent and as a result bend the plastic operating rod ... so it didn't activate the motor.

I eventually managed to get in with a lot of patience and then fixed it. I also bent the operate wire very slightly to make it push the rod straight rather than bend it again.

I got the actuator from pug206cc-spares on fleabay

PS Sorry to sound patronising but you are pushing the barrel in as well ... it doesn't just pop open like other cars ... ???

Yeah. I've tried everything that a "different" car might require but this just isn't happening. Cheers for the advice.

You are turning the key the right way aren't you? It's opposite to most cars, as you turn the key anti-clockwise and they are quite stiff.

On mine I have to turn the key to the left (anti-clockwise) and then push the key in to release the lock. Then I can lift the lid.

Edit: Apologies, this has already been said by Gazza, just that I didn't find opening the boot very intuitive to begin with.

When you turn the key to the left/anti-clockwise, do you hear a noise like a small motor? That's the lock actuator .. if you don't then it is probably the problem we had.

Sorry to hijack thread (It's kinda on-topic), but should the key-fob unlock the boot so all you need to do is press the button in or must you always open the boot by inserting the key?

The key fob will lock the boot when you lock the car. However, to unlock the boot you must always insert the key and turn it anti-clockwise, then press the button to open it.

i have exactly the same problem with my y plate 206cc which i recently bought at first it opened by jiggling the key in the lock, but a local mechanic told me to spray the lock with wd40 ,which i did , but since then it hasnt opened at all.

My 206CC has a problem with the boot. It does not open. Does anyone know if there is any other way besides with the key? If the actuator motor has to be changed how do I get the boot open? Is there a way from inside the car by taking out the seats or any other way?

In the end I took a chance and risked opening the boot via the roof switch and stopped it when upright and before the roof moved. I was then able to get to the interior cover and pull it back to reset the operating rod which had come out of the activating motor arm. Put the cover back, completed the roof open cycle, closed it and opened the boot with key. I was then able to fix the actuator rod properly but eventually changed the actuator motor as the plastic arm was bent and the rod would intermittently come loose.



But I take no responsibility for this process as stopping the boot half way can cause other issues.

The problem is that I cannot open the roof because the blind ( or im not sure what its called) is not pulled out therefore I cannot open the roof in any way. That is why I was wondering how try and open the boot. Do you know any other way.

Didn't think about that one ... no sorry, no idea now ...

Wonder if there is a way to fool the BSI into thinking the boot blind switch is closed ???
