BEEPING AND WON'T REMOTE LOCK

Hello! I turned off my car after a normal journey to work this morning with no problems. I had had my lights of and stereo on (which is a Sony so not the original).. however, I turned off all of these things when I stopped the car.
When I opened the door to get out, it made the beeping noise that it makes when you have left the keys in (as opposed to the louder beep of when the door opens). This is not normal.. so I checked my lights were off, put my stereo on and off again (and unplugged it as before) and checked my windows were closed and my keys weren't in the ignition etc.. but the car still beeped at me!
The remote lock also is not working - suddenly - as I have had no previous issues. I have manually locked it and left it now. That worked, but I am worried I have left some electrical component on and I am draining my battery. The car model is a 2004 Peugeot 206 cc.. Please help if you can guys! x

I'd check the battery in your key remote. When did you last renew it?

Ahh thank you.. That is a great idea! As far as I know it has never been changed which means that it is probably due one after these 10 years! I will have another look at lunch time but this sounds extremely likely.. Thank you!! x x
