No, anyone can register, it's for owners too, but you might have limited access to some parts of the site.

Just fill in any details and make them up if you need to! :)

You might get an odd reaction from dealers who immediately ask where you get the part numbers from, but you can always say another dealer! ;)

Hi and thanks Thar for your reaction but I tried to register as an owner (particulier) and then a page appeared where I was told that the service is only for professionals... there will be soon an appropriate version for privates...

Thanks gazza82 for your reaction and suggestion!
But since there are four possibilities to register:

- Professionnel de la réparation automobile
- Autre professionnel de la réparation automobile
- Autre professionnel
- Assistance et Premier Secours

Which one should I take? (the last one?)

Just pretend to be one of the first two ...

You can change the language as well ... don't know if English or Italian would be easier for you?

Thanks gazza82 I will do that.
I can manage both languages so that's no problem :-)

This morning I left the strut at a company who repairs hydraulic systems and maybe they are able to change the oil seal(s), they will let me know if it's possible but they already told me that they cannot test it because they don't have the right attachments.
However I hope they can succeed in changing the seals, it would save me a lot of money...

Best regards and have a good day, Michael

Out of interest was it the one I gave you the link for?

Hi Capncol, no it was not the one you gave me because here in Italy the word "idraulica" means generally the plumbing systems... :-)
I went to a friend of mine who works in an industrial hardware store and asked if he knew a company who could be able to revise or repair such an hydraulic strut and he gave me an address where they usually repair hydraulic (oil dynamic) systems in industrial motor vehicles and buses so I went there and talked to the main engineer. He told me to leave the strut and he will let me know if he is able to do the job. If he succeeds I of course will let you know here on this forum (topic) as well.
Best regards, Michael

I wanted to let you know that yesterday I went to pick up my revised strut and the one who revised it told me that he changed the two seals inside but that he couldn't guarantee anything because he didn't have the right equipment to test it.
This afternoon I managed to refit the strut and to test it in my car and to my amazement the strut worked and had no signs of leakage after !!!
However after checking the oil level, I had to refill two times the reservoir and I hope that in the following days it will remain stable and that there will be no leakage... I of course will check that!
Since I bought that little bottle of Aral Vitamol ZMH oil (125ml) previously from my local Peugeot dealer (very expensive almost €20) and since I used almost all of it, I now need another bottle in case I have to top up again... Can anyone suggest me if I could use other types of oils?
Or where I could find it cheaper?
On the bottle that I have there is no statement at all that it is Aral Vitamol oil, all that is written is:

9734 NO - PRO - Oil for hydraulic systems - Peugeot Citroen Automobiles - 125ml - www.quickfds.com - Made in France
Properties: High viscosity index, Anti-wear, Thermal stability, Resistance to oxidation, Anti-corrosion, Anti-foaming, Neutrality to elastomers.

Please let me know your suggestions and my special thanks and gratitude to Capncol for his excellent advice!!!

Errata corrige: The partnumber that is written on the bottle is 9734 N0 (not NO).

Glad you got it sorted. The reason the level has gone down is because the air has been displaced out of the ram and pipes and are now filled with oil. The level should stabalise now.
As for the oil, maybe something like Hyspin AWS 68 or Hyspin AWH would do. I would ask the people who repaired your ram. Show them your bottle and see what they suggest.
Cheers Col.

Hi and thanks for your reply!
Yes I should do that and return to them but it's a bit far from where I live...
If I happen to be in their neighborhood I will certainly ask them.
Thanks again, my greetings and have a nice day!

Hello Michael,
I'm having the same problem with that strut. I'm wondering did you remove the strut along with the hydraulic tubes attached to it or is it possible to remove just the strut? I read the guide that wongkaykong posted but that guide mention removing the strut along with the tubes.

Anybody have any ideas on how to disarm this thing.. in order to replace the oil seal ? it has a clip that seems impossible to remove.

Thanks
