new CD player installation on 2007 model

Post by 086.ris »

Hi
I have a 206CC 2007 model which I am trying to change the original CD player/radio to an after market unit.
I have connected all the speaker wires which are fine. however I am having difficulty to connect the 2 positive wires to power the unit. I have connected the + battry wire and tired to connect the +switch key wire which is listed in the wiring diagram but I don't get any power to the unit.

the wiring diagram listed A6 to be the + switch key but there is no voltage in that wire when i tested with my multi meter and also connecting it to the unit. A7 pin had two wires connected to it which i thought one of those wires could be it but only one wire has a constant +12V and the other has nothing even when the key is turned to position one or even the car is on, and even A6 has no voltage at all.
its driving me crazy

I have tested all the fuses and they all are fine. so if anyone can please help with this problem would appriciate it.

Why don't you just get a conversion block that fits between the original loom and the radio plug? You don't have to touch the original wiring at all then.

One came with our Sony unit (fitted to a 2001 CC) and meant swapping out the two live wires was also simple as they were bullet connectors.

If you have fitted it to a 2007 car you are going to have to update the BSI unit as that will be expecting the original to be fitted.

And hopefully you'll realise this but it wont work with the MFD on top of the dash.

thanks gazza82

I have a conversion block but some of the pins are in differnet place for example the +ignotion key is in A6 in the originl and its in A4 in the conversion block and if i cut that wire and attach A4 with A6 in original. would that work?

ye I am aware that the dashboard dispaly wont work.

Conversion block I have had two ends and a section of cable between ... so then it's easy to swap live wires as the two possible have bullet connectors you pull out in plug back in.

Tried google?
