What happans if ..........

Post by ChloeAllure53 »

Ok, I am curious what happens in the following situation and I don't fancy actually trying it out myself, but maybe someone knows the answer.

You have bags in the boot, all below the roller blind and you have the roof down. What happens if

a. You go over a bump and the bags temporaily push up the roller blind

b. You brake and the bags shift and permanently push up the blind.

I am assuming you'll get that alarm call of doom in both situations. If so, will the car settle down or will it need a reset or is all dependant on how the car is feeling??

As some of you may remember I did have an issue with my roof/speed bump and alarm of doom and had to take the car into Peugeot. Its never happened again but it was the only time I ever had the roof down and stuff in the boot and I am still puzzling over it a month later (and cringeing every time I go over a speed bump at 1 mph).

Maybe barking up the wrong tree, but it got me thinking about the above and also do any of you have a rule not to have the roof down with stuff in the boot??

Cheers!

So long as the blind is hooked into the retaining clips it won't do a thing

Ahhh, so its all about the retaining clips and not anything to do with the actual body of the blind being compromised in any way??

Good, that makes me feel a lot happier!! You did suggest a boot lid issue but luckily it never happened again so I never got chance to test it out and I hope I never will.

But thats interesting info and makes me more confident with the roof now.

Thanks

When you pull the blind back there is a little metal clip on the left hand side (in the blind holder) which closes a micro switch, this indicates the blind is across. Similarly, you can jam something in there to close the clip and not use the blind at all (not a good idea though). So, if you were driving along and the blind retracts all that will happen is that the micro-switch will be open and you will get a beeping sound. You'd need to stop, open the boot and feel around the back to pull the blind back to position. Alternatively, if you can't reach the blind the stick some tape on the metal connector to hold the micro-switch shut, go back, put the roof up, once up, open the boot and put it all back to normal.

No hard will come to any of it.
