206 cc cutting out
hi all,
new to the forum but have been a long time visitor for all 206cc advice,
I have a 206cc 2.0l on an '03 plate, 53,000 miles on the clock and generally in great condition..
two weeks ago it started playing up by cutting out on me, as I approach a roundabout or junction and lift off the accelerator, it slows down as it should but when I go to hit the throttle again it dies. no coughing, no misfire, just dead. starts again immediately but is happening more often...
took it too garage and had it plugged in, diagnostic said fuel pump relay fault, but it doesn't have a fuel pump relay!! garage had it for the whole day with no luck tracing problem
any ideas would be greatly apprecialted

Re: 206 cc cutting out
Pity. That wouldn't have been the code as that's an injector code. Do you know what scan tool was used?

Re: 206 cc cutting out
Hmm. They are pretty good and don't usually give false codes. Really need the code to advise further as the code gives more info than the brief description. Your fuel pump is powered through the fuse box via the multifunction double relay, so it might be worth checking that.
BTW I always print out fault codes for people so they have something to refer to.

Re: 206 cc cutting out
I thought they should've done the same but nothing, told me to bring it back next week when he's a little less busy and can spend a couple of days on it if he needs to... all I heard was the chime of the till with labour charges...
thanks for the advice, i'm gonna start from the fuse box electrically speaking and work my way through the fuel pump, then move to the throttle body and attached sensors and see where I end up. not sure what else to do

Just a thought, is yours a "fly by wire" accelerator control?

Re: 206 cc cutting out
Yes they are at that year Ron. Thinking the TB sticking? Could be but I would expect a MIL light on.

Re: 206 cc cutting out
ok rewind, whats a TB? and MIL light? stripped down throttle body yesterday afternoon, thoroughly cleaned all moving parts, replaced all vacuum pipes as they were very brittle and one actually split as I removed them. guy in car parts shop suggested the idle control valve or crankshaft\camshaft sensor (can't remember which he said)... i'm getting so down with the car at the moment and don't know what to try next...

Re: 206 cc cutting out
Yes Col, you read my mind. However if he has got split or cracked vacuum hoses & pipes that could well be his problem. Could be one that he hasn't found yet. They get brittle with age.

Re: 206 cc cutting out
TB = Throttle body
MIL= Malfunction indicator light
You haven't got an idle control valve on that car. To be honest, you are just guessing and will end up spending more than if you get the fault code read (properly) and concentrate on that.
As said earlier, with the proper codes we can be of more help.

Re: 206 cc cutting out
Reading & Southampton £40 inc print out and advice. Tools used will be Macscan or Peugeot planet 2000.
If you are east London it probably would be worth finding someone closer, although I may well be over in Kent within the next couple of weeks if that's any good.
