rear axle

Post by Dingdong »

I cannot remober how to post a question so this is probably in the wrong format place etc. Anyway, the bit that attaches to the rear axle is rather wobbly...what is the problem, is it danngerous and what is outcome, looking at posts it seems it may another arm or rear axle...so hopefully someone will spot this post and set me right in more ways than one!

Rear axle bearing failure. Can be done but easier to change complete axle assembly. there are posts on here describing the procedure,
Cheers Col.

Finding one for a reasonable price is the fun part.
The first thing my local scrappy said to me when I went there trawling for bits was "the rear axles ALWAYS go on those", and I've noticed quite a few posts on here recently asking about them.
The one on the car I was breaking could have sold 3 or 4 times (bet I should have asked for more for it!), but it makes me wonder if it's going to be the part that consigns a lot of these cars to the breakers, and make it more and more difficult to keep the remaining ones roadworthy.
CC's are nice little cars - it would be good to see them become a future classic, but X1/9's were nice too, and so were Mini's. Not many left now.

yes thanks for those ideas, i reckon it will cost, but I have it for 10 years and love it. Also had a Y plate which got rid of quickly for numerous reasons which I won't bore the forum with. I wonder whether its worth going for new one as if get a 2nd hand one, whats the %that might go as well. We reckon the potholes and amersham and Gerrards Cross havee'nt helped either... right nasty!!!!
