Lateral Yaw Rate Accelerator Sensor

I have had a diagnostic done on my 206cc 1.6 petrol 2005 with the following result 'lateral yaw rate accelerator sensor' fault, had a reset done, but no joy, esp/anr not functioning warning message and light still on, i believe the sensor is located under the carpet beneath the passenger seat, I have made an enquiry at a motor parts shop and been told the sensor is unique to the vehicle registration and would have to go to a main dealer, my questions are: is sensor unique to the registration?,would a main dealer sell me one? could I fit it myself and have it reset via a diagnostic???? thank you in advance of any suggestions

Who did the diagnostic? Pugs are not known to like a lot of off-the-shelf systems and really need PP2000 ...

hi, the diagnostic was done at a diagnostic centre, so doubt it was an off the shelf system, forgot to mention beforehand this was the second diagnostic had done, first one was a back street garage that do diagnostics at a cost of £25.00, even tho i handed it over i was not sure about the result so took it too a proper diagnostic centre cost of £45.00, they both gave the same fault....

Not sure then. Our CC is older so has a throttle cable, so the "yaw sensor" is probably the electronic throttle fitted to some more modern cars. It's probably a bad or dirty connection either at the throttle pedal or the throttle body.

Gazza it's part of the ESP (stability prog) Didn't know they had them so no idea where it is.

EDIT: It's mentioned on page 89 of the handbook, but I've never seen a 206 so equipped (not that that means anything though)
It's apparently under the passenger seat. It would be main dealer part only, and faults could be cleared by whoever got you that fault code. It will look like a box with a lead plugged into it.

Cheers Capncol, and yes it is under the passenger seat with a lead plugged into it, I took seat out and lifted the carpet its an ATE component, now my question is will a peugeot dealer sell me one???? cheers

hahahaha quick update the lateral yaw rate accelerator sensor is called a stability control sensor just found out it will cost £416 inc vat from main dealer, have tried all places to get one, alas to no avail, looks like main dealer then, at least its easy to fit, so no labour costs and does not need a reset........... arggghhhh

Have you tried the guys on ebay they sell CC spares?

pug206cc-spares IIRC ...


Otherwise find out on ebay who breaking one of a similar year to yours and email them ... don't that a couple of times and got what I needed quickly and cheaply!

Do the hatchbacks have them? Might also be on GTIs, etc meaning you can widen your search and also have more chances.

Thanks Gazza for all your info, i tried all places i could think of to no avail, one pug spare parts place told me i could line 1000 or more 206cc's take out the passenger seat, lift the carpet of them all take out the sensors and they would not work on mine unless every number on the sensor was identical, anyway to cut the story short I bought 1 from the main dealer at the price above, 10 mins to take out seat and lift carpet, 2 minutes to remove sensor and replace with new one, lesss than 10 mins seat back, bobs ya uncle all done, no warning message, no warning light on dash, prob saved about £200 on labour...........

ps: forgot to mention no need for a diagnostic reset either, oops i did mention above all working after refittting new one lol.........................

My Yaw rate accelerator sensor, is located under the driver seat if any one have a problem in finding it under the passenger seat.
